Obituary A Beautiful Life Ermalene Addison Crawford Ermalene was born to William Black Addison and Salathia Washington Addison on February 12, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri. Ermalene was the youngest of eleven children born to this union. Ermalene Addison married Maurice Crawford September 12, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri. They reared four children as their own from his family. He passed in 1994 after many years of happiness. Ermalene learned responsibility early as her mother, Salathia, could depend on her to travel out and pay the family bills. She was happy to help her mother because she knew that her mother worked hard to support the household. Additionally, she relied on her father for great home remedies. She often spoke about his homemade cures that she continued to use and to create. She grew in wisdom and used it to work smarter. Her time as a seamstress and other domestic related positions led her to form great relationships with individuals such as Joyce Hallmark and many others. Of all these positions, she loved being a wife and mother best. She shared her love and her heart with her husband and her four children. She was also a longtime member of the church where she served God, the church, and her community. Her relationship with God was primary and it showed. It was her constant routine to watch Jimmy Swaggart and to give God daily praise, honor and glory. On any given day, you would catch her wearing a smile. She would invite you to wear one too as her humor would ignite, along with her words of wisdom. She could step in a room and the sun would automatically shine. She might also surprise you with a dance step or two, a song or her chosen nickname for you. In that same room, she would be the best dressed in the most stunning and dazzling outfits that she personally crafted. Her love of shopping, football, great seafood, helping others, building relationships, and staying active demonstrated her love for life. We loved her for this and so much more. As she would say, That’s It and That’s All. She was the one and only Ermalene Crawford, Of Course. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Salathia Addison and her husband Maurice. One son, Johnny Crawford. Brothers Isaac, Roy Lee, Qubie, Hubert and Wilbert and sisters Lillian, Virginia, Leona and Mildred. A special friend, John Holmes, also preceded her in death. Left to celebrate Ermalene’s life are her sister Norma Jean Addison Scott, her daughter, Juanita Crawford, her two sons, Keith Crawford and Eugene Crawford, a great niece, Mary Teal; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She remained close to her husband Maurice’s family after his death. Funeral services will be held Friday April 30, 2021, 11:00am at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00am-11:00am at the chapel. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
