Ms. Elaine Jones

Elaine Jones passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. She was born June 14, 1945, in Zwolle, LA to Sam Jones and Pearline Davis. In 1948, she moved to Kansas City, MO. Elaine accepted Christ at an early age. In 1964, she became a member of Emmanul Baptist Church of Kansas City, MO. She remained a member for almost 60 years. She graduated from West High School in 1962. After high school, her academic achievements also included a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s Degree, and a Doctor’s Equivalent in Education. She had a lifelong dedication to education and spent over 40 years as an elementary school educator, shaping young minds in the Kansas City and Raytown school districts. After retiring, Elaine became the sole owner of Jones Publishing Company, focusing on children’s stories. Elaine’s love for teaching and storytelling highlighted her passion for enriching the lives of children and nurturing the artist and writer. Her artistic talent was evident, and her creations touched the hearts of many. She enjoyed making a positive impact on her community and the lives of many. Elaine treasured her family, her friends, and her students. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Earl Perry; Elzie Jones; and James Perry; one stepbrother; Rolley Lee Jones; four stepsisters; JoAnna Searbrough; Lucy Jane McClanahan; Viola Burroughs; and Eliza Tillman; two sisters-in-law, Betty Perry; and Mattie Perry; two brothers-in-law, George Burroughs; and Cleveland Harris; father of daughter, William T. Johnson. Elaine leaves to cherish her memory, one grandson, DaeSean Jones of Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Michelle Hopkins of Kansas City, MO; one Bonus Son, Carlos Hopkins of Kansas City, MO; two brothers, Ben Moore, Jr (Sandra) of Kansas City, MO; and Henry Lee Revels (Fe) of Antioch, CA; one stepsister, Leola Harris of Houston, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Our sincere appreciation to the staff of St. Luke’s Hospice House. May Elaine legacy continue to inspire and bring happiness to those who knew her. May her soul rest in peace, and may the memories of her love, creativity, and dedication bring happiness to those all who mourn her loss. Funeral services Tuesday, January 23, 2024, 1:00pm at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Interment Brooking Cemetery. Visitation 12:00pm-1:00pm at the chapel. Services conducted by Lawrence A.
