Obituary Dorothy Dimple McClenton, 86 of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Saint Luke’s Hospice House. She was born March 7, 1935, in Columbia, Missouri the daughter of Mike and Nellie Pearl (Walker) Turner. Dorothy attended Frederick Douglass School in Columbia. Dorothy moved from Columbia to Kansas City at the age of 14 in 1952. She later married Gilbert McClenton Jr., on March 6, 1958. Dorothy spent her life as a business owner most notably the J-BAR-G,INC. bus company located on 5400 Prospect in Kansas City. The company’s largest contract included serving The Kansas City Missouri School District. J-BAR-G served and worked with many churches and other businesses within the African-American community. Throughout her life and especially upon retirement Dorothy spent her time connecting with other members of her extended family. She was affectionately known as Aunt Dorothy, she was always giving advice and told family stories like a great historian. Dorothy was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord she taught Sunday School at Christian Tabernacle and later become a member of Sheffield Family Life Center. Survived by: daughter Ida Mae Turner and son James Prince Turner; (now known as Prince Akil) and one grandson William Louis Fambrough, III; first cousins Winnie Beatrice Walker-Smallwood and Mayette Tucker-Carter; nieces and nephews Clyde Jones Jr., Deborah Turner-Smith, Iris Lorene Jones, David Givens, Anthony VanBuren Sr, Don Jones, Rodney Van Wright, Anita Pearl Turner, and Darrell Graves. Proceeded in death: husband Gilbert McClenton, Jr; parents Mike and Nellie Pearl (Walker) Turner; siblings; James (Buster) Prince Turner, George Willie Turner, Charlie Mike Turner Jr., Harry Dean Turner, Howard Lee Turner, Noah Thomas Turner, Fannie Bell Turner-Jones, Twin Brothers (stillborn), Lucille Turner-Braden, Calvin Turner and Betty Turner (stillborn); nieces Felicia K. Jones, Wanda Sue Turner, Jacqueline Turner-McElroy and nephews Michael T. Graves, Ronnie E. Jones, and Michael H. Jones. Dorothy will be missed by a host of great-nieces and great-nephews; cousins; relatives; and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 25, 2021,11:00am at Sheffield Family Life Center. Interment Longview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00am-11:00am at the church. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may shared on our website.
