Mrs. Doris Rambo

Obituary Doris Rambo was born to Pearl Sr. and Beatrice Simmons on 11/14/1935 in Canton Mississippi. She was introduced to Christ at an early age, accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was baptized. She lived for Jesus until Go called her home on Sunday March 13, 2021. Preceding her in death were both parents Pearl Sr. and Beatrice Simmons, brothers, Theon Simmons, Kenneth Simmons, and Princeton Simmons Sr., sister, Verneda McIsaac. Also preceding her in death one son in-love Charles Rambo, daughter in-love Terrice Singleton, and her devoted daughter Linda Ezley. In 1959 Doris arrived in Kansas City, MO with her two daughters, Linda and Jackie. She later gave birth to 3 sons, Ralph, Vincent, and Reggie. In her pursuit for church fellowship, she joined the Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Julius Rambo. Sis. Rambo, as so many referred to her as, grew emisley in her spirituality at Sunlight and served as a faithful. On December 3, 1978, Sis. Rambo married Pastor Emanuel Rambo and became the First Lady of the Truelove Missionary Baptist Church. Sis. Rambo sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, counseled and consoled many within their membership until her illness. In addition to her many roles at Truelove, she also served faithfully with the Minister's Wives Association. Sis. Rambo was a soldier in the army of the Lord. She worshiped him day in and day out in spirit and in truth. Doris was a devoted mother and hard worker. She worked catering parties. In a nursing facility, she worked for Wilcox Electronics and after 30 years of service she retired from Bendix, currently known as Honeywell. She had many friends and family that regarded her highly. She was a friendly woman, always had a smile on her face, she did not in dissension. She had a heart for God that desired to treat people with love, and to live in peace and harmony with others. She loved to laugh and offer words of encouragement. Doris was a woman of many talents. She was an extraordinary seamstress. She beautifully made most of her clothing and accessories that she wore, including hats, bags, and earrings. She also was a seamstress for many in the community. She made wedding gowns, bridal party wear, prom dresses, you name it she made it. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her famous "Coconut Cake'', which she made totally from scratch. She enjoyed decorating her home as well. She was an extremely creative person. Doris loved her family. Her born family, her blessed family, and her church family. Left to rejoice in her life and to mourn her death are: Husband Pastor Emanuel Rambo, daughter Jackie Henderson (Joe) (Bivins, TX), 3 sons: Ralph (Lori) (Jacksonville, FL), Vincent (DeSoto, TX), and Reggie (Carolyn) (Lancaster, TX) brother: Pearl Jr. (Jean) (Kansas City, MO) Son in law: Pat Elzy (Raymore, MO) 6 daughters in love: Jeanetter, Joann (Timothy), Sharon (Anthony), Brenda, Patricia (Maurice), Lora (Jeffery), and Catrina (Donnie) (all of Kansas City, MO) 3 sons in love Willie Jean, Stevie, Samyel(Ja'nice) (all of Kansas City, MO); a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special friend - Lizzie Ashley, Mary Campbell, beloved memory of Minnie Collins Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 20, 2021, 1:00pm at Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30am-12:30pm at the church. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
