Ms. Denise Butler-Ward

Obituary Born 1/29/50 and Took Flight on 6/24/21 at Research Hospital Kansas City, MO 64132. Denise was born to her parents Leon and Lonzetta Butler who preceded her in death, along with her two siblings Gwen (Butler) Roberts and Andre Butler. Denise (Niecy as we called her) went to Charles S. Johnson Elementary in Tulsa, OK. She advanced and graduated from Paseo High School. She married her childhood sweetheart James Stockdale who preceded her in death. In that union, she has two beautiful daughters Latisha Stockdale and Tracy Stockdale. Denise also has a handsome son Jimmy Stockdale in a love relationship with Jimmy Hicks who preceded her in death. Denise was employed at Allis Chalmers (AGGO), where she met and married the love of her life Oscar C. Ward. She left that employment to become a full time mother to not only her children but to her stepchildren Oscar C. Ward Jr. and Calvin E. Ward. Denise attend and was a faithful member of Christian Tabernacle where she and best friends Margaret Rose (who preceded her in death) worked in the Youth Ministry. Denise was in the Altar Ministry and Choir. She attended Sheffield Family Life Center Main and East Campus where most of her family are now members today. Denise was never afraid to take chances or travel. She really loved to travel especially with her best friend Tina Smith. She had so many dreams of places she wanted to see and now she is seeing more beauty than we can even imagine. She leaves to mourn her soulmate and husband Oscar C. Ward, two daughters Latisha Stockdale and Tracy Stockdale, one son Jimmy Stockdale and two stepsons Oscar C. (Noemi) Ward Jr. and Calvin E. Ward. Two siblings Gwen (Kenneth) Roberts and Andre (Kim) Butler. Grandchildren Christopher Roe (who preceded her in death) Adrian Roe, B. Denise Stockdale, Marquan Stockdale, Nick Stockdale and great grandchildren Amiya Jones, Kollin Jones, Kendall Jones, Avery Roe, A’lani Roe, AJ Roe, Aleeyah Stockdale Jo’Dale “JoJo” Roe (preceded her in death) and Tavareon Roe; nieces Bridget (Derek) Haynes, Andrea Fritz and Edwina Bates (who preceded her in death); one nephew Kip Fritz Sr. (who preceded her in death), great-nieces Chaffawn Smith, Janelle (Chadwick) Dougals, Mia Fritz, Nia Fritz, great-nephews Kip Fritz Jr. and KeAndre Fritz; one Aunt Ramona Jackson and a host of other cousins, nephews, nieces and other family members. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021, Sheffield Family Family Life Center. Interment Saturday, July 3, 2021, Leavenworth National Cemetery, LVNKS.
