Ms. Delores E. Jones

THE CHAPTER OF BIRTH Delores E. Tucker Jones was born on June 6, 1942, to the union of Thomas and Gernell Tucker in Mexico, Missouri. She is preceded in death by her mother, Gernell Crockett; father, Thomas Tucker; stepfather, Eugene Crockett; brother, Larry E. Tucker; husband, Daniel E. Jones; and daughter, Dahna E. Jones. THE CHAPTER OF LIFE Delores completed her high school education at Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1961. She attended Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg, Missouri, where she met Daniel Jones. They were married in 1966. From this union, two children, Dahna E. Jones and Dawn E. Jones, were born. This union sadly ended with the passing of Daniel Jones. After leaving college, Delores was employed at Western Electric. She later worked for many years with the Federal Government at the Internal Revenue Service as a Criminal Investigator. She retired to care for Dahna during her battle with juvenile diabetes. She eventually returned to the workforce at the Kansas City Public School District with the Head Start Program as a Parent Involvement Coordinator. Delores was truly a “Sassy and Spicy” woman: classy, confident, and always well put together. She often said, “If my hair and make-up are not right, I’m not going.” She spoke her mind, so you always knew exactly where she stood. And when she loved you, she loved you deeply and without hesitation. Delores showed her die-hard love for her beloved Kansas City Chiefs. Every game day, she was “suited up” in her Chiefs gear and enjoyed yelling out plays as the game went on. In addition to football, she enjoyed reading, especially Black biographies, crocheting, watching national news, and socializing with a little two-stepping in the rotation. Delores was a good and loyal friend to all who entered her life. Some started out as high school friends and became lifelong friends. One even began as her first boyfriend and, over the years, became a steadfast “got your back” friend. That same energy extended to all of Dawn’s close friends, neighborhood kids, and some of her co-workers, who lovingly referred to her as Aunt Dee, Mama Dee, or Mama Jones. She affectionately called all of them “her kids.” THE CHAPTER OF TRANSITION Delores E. Tucker Jones ended her earthly chapter and began her heavenly chapter on April 15, 2026. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Dawn E. Jones; cousin, Diane Stevenson; cousin, Allen Stevenson; cousin, John E. Ware; cousin, Chris McIntyre (Melanie); cousin/son, Diallo French; cousin, John David Ware; and cousin, Jessica Ware. She also leaves behind a host of cousins, other relatives and extended family and friends. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, 10:00 a.m. at the Watkins Heritage Chapel 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. KCMO 64130. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A.
