Ms. Charlie M. Magnussen

Obituary Charlie Mae was the second child and oldest daughter of Josie Mae Prow. She was born in Bakersfield, California, on Sunday, June 15, 1952. Both her mother and father, Mr. Charlie Glover, preceded her in death. Charlie Mae grew up in Kennett, MO, and was educated in the public schools there. She lived with her mother and five siblings in a home full of love. Being the oldest girl, Charlie Mae had a lot of responsibilities before and after school. She cooked, cleaned, and tended to her younger brothers and sisters. Charlie Mae was raised to love God. She often reflected on how her dear Uncle John Willie (J.W.) Pulliam told her to never forget God. Charlie Mae NEVER forgot God! Charlie instilled her love of God to her children and always told them to love each other and take care of one another. Charlie Mae moved to Kansas City, where she held various jobs, pursued her passion for singing, and soon began a family. She met and married Mr. Carl Magnussen and together raised four children, until his passing. Charlie Mae was blessed to be surrounded for many years by a village of people to help her and to cheer for her throughout her life. She was forever grateful for Sister Berta Sailer and Sister Corita Bussanmas and the people from Operation Breakthrough/St. Vincents who supported her when times were hard and when there were milestones to celebrate. Charlie was preceded in death by two brothers, David Lee Prow and Joe Willie Prow, her sister, Gloria Jean Prow, and her oldest daughter, Josette Gennay Glover. She will be missed by a large number of friends, many cousins, two siblings, Russell Prow and Betty Bell, and her mother’s only sister, Mrs. Willie Mae Pulliam. Most of all, Charlie Mae Glover Magnussen leaves behind a beautiful legacy, her dear children, Rodney Glover, Katina Magnussen, Karla Magnussen, Kiera Stephens, Karlos Magnussen, Kapri Magnussen and her dear grandchildren Ra’Naya Davis, Raymond Davis, Re’Anna Davis, Ke’Marriah Stephens, Andre Jr Stephens, Akellies Stephens, Leonidas Stephens, Ameena Britton, and Amir Britton. Charlie Mae will forever be remembered for her feisty attitude, spiritual guidance, adaptability to life’s challenges and perseverance as she LOVED her children. To know her is to love her, and all who knew her loved her! The lord saw fit to call on you on October 19, 2022, You lived and you loved You fought the great fight Your family will miss you But embark on that great light I saw you look forward Your memories you reviewed Even with dementia You knew who was who Your life was a mystery One would wonder in amazement How you survived being Charlie But you did Unapologetically 70 years of engagement You knew it was near As you uttered the words “I know you got them” And, “I’m proud of you” I’m so grateful to God That you were the one I wouldn’t be the person Without you as my mom I love you forever and wish you all the best I’ll forever uphold you And will carry on the rest Charlie Mae, was my momma As bold and sassy as can be To know her is to love her You will live on through us May you suffer no more And finally get some rest I love you momma!
