Obituary Charles J. Robinson Sr. Charles J. Robinson was born May 24, 1937 in Lake, Mississippi to Fred Robinson and Annie Lee Harris, both preceded him in death. Charles moved to Kansas City with his parents and graduated from Washington High School. He joined the Navy and served his country for five years. During his tour in Bermuda, he became the father of two daughters. After his tour ended, he returned to Kansas City where he met and married Wilma Jean Cornice and gained five bonus children. Charles and Wilma were also blessed four additional children. He later married Shirley Howard and four additional children were born. During Charles’s lifetime, he would help raise several children as if they were his own. His home was always open to anyone who needed a helping hand. As a result, he would gain several children and grandchildren. In 1999, he retired from General Motors where he was employed for over 50 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Quindaro, where he served God and members of the congregation, by driving the church bus and van; and accompanying the choir most Sundays by playing his guitar. Charles' musical talents were well known in the area because he was a member of many bands; and ministered by music during many musicals at Guiding Star Missionary Baptist Church and during Early Morning Services. Preceding him in death was his brother, BJ Robinson and son, Christopher Robinson. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Shirley; daughters, Charlene Carter and Carmen Hopkins (KCK), Michelle Robinson (Craig) of St. Louis, MO, Anastasia Robinson (KCK), Tina Robinson (Texas), Julia Leon (KCK); Sons Charles Robinson Jr (KCK), Gregory Robinson and Tyrone Robinson (Christina) both of Gilbert, AZ, Leland Robinson (Denise) and Fredrick Robinson (Sasche) both of KCK, God Children Rachel Sanders (Ronald), Disirae Odem (Dominique Brewer), Johnny McAlister (Elexica) and a special son Ryan Hegerty of KCK, 25 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; Brother Fred Robinson (Earline) of Upper Marlboro, MD, a host of nephews, nieces, and those who affectionately called him PaPa, and his General Motors wives , Doris Smith (Bobby) and Mary Green. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at First Baptist of Quindaro Church 3030 Farrow Avenue, KCK. Interment in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
