CHARLENE B WEST

Obituary Charlene was born in Shelbina, Missouri to Charles and Lucille Johnson on New Years Day, 1939. She was the oldest of two children born to this union. Three of her children: Ronald Theodore West, Charles Ferrell West, and Dina Marie Braden, preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, her brother Melvin, one grandson, Ennice Ross Sr., and two great-grandsons, Ennice Ross Jr., and Montee` Ross Jr. With only an 8 th grade education, she nearly single-handedly raised nine children. She had a great love for angels and collected over a thousand of them during the course of her life. From 1970 to 1991, she was employed at Hallmark Cards. She began her walk with Christ at 35 th St.Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend R.C. Black, where she developed a genuine love for Christ. After attending 35 th St. Baptist Church for many years, Charlene joined New Landmark Deliverance Ministries under the leadership of Bishop John L. Brown where she served as a member of the Mother Board until she transitioned. Not only was she blessed to see five generations of her very own family tree, but she was also a grandmother and motherly figure to many others. Charlene was always a delightful and giving person. To know her was to absolutely love her. She was the closest thing to an angel that we have ever met. She was adored by many, especially her children and grandchildren. Charlene never met a stranger. She extended her heart to everyone she met. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She loved Christmas so much because she loved to give to others. Missionary work was her passion. She loved to give back, even if she was giving her last. So, even though we are in mourning, we celebrate her today. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Marilyn Ross, Maurice West (La’Nez), Franklin West, Melvin West, Robert West, Rhonda Walker, Regina Williams, and Steven Bradford. She also had a large extended family too numerous to name. She also leaves to cherish her memory the grandchildren she raised as her own: Karletha Harris (Ishmael), Montee Ross (Sharon), Ty’Ree West (Marquita), Sharhonda Braden, Shannon West, Tempest Pierce (Dralan), Camille Bradford, and a host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and very special friends. We are all Blessed and Thankful to have had Charlene Betty West as such a significant part of our lives and Pray that her spirit will always be with us, guiding us with the unconditional love she always showed us as she smiles down on us from her Mansion in the Sky where she will spend all eternity in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Who is worthy to be Praised. May we all emulate her life of love and forgiveness that in due time, we shall be reunited with her in Heaven. Amen.
