Brother William Harold Johnson

Obituary William Harold Johnson was born on December 13, 1937, the youngest of eight children born to Johnnie and Nelia P. Johnson. William departed this life on March 4, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, daughter, Leisa, both parents, brothers, Clarence B., Willie, Howard, and Charles and sisters, Yvonne and Pearl. William is known to family and many that knew him as Harold. Harold grew up and was educated in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He was baptized and grew up in Thirkield Methodist Church in Bogalusa. He served in the Junior and Senior Choirs, Chairman of Methodist Men Board, and Chairman of Methodist Youth Fellowship. Harold joined the United States Army and served until November 1955. He later met and married Mary Pearl Harvey. To this union five children were born: Leisa Dianne, Dwyanne Edward, Laura Olivia, Judith Ann, and Anita Faye. In 1964, he and his family moved to Kansas City, Missouri. He then joined Mariah Walker A.M.E. Church. Harold sang in the Choir, was on the Usher Board, and Chairman of the Trustee Board. In May of 1966, he went to work for the United States Postal Service as a Mail Handler. He later transferred to Motor Vehicle as a Truck Driver. In 1975, he transferred to the Kansas City Bulk Center in Kansas City, Kansas as a Truck Driver and later transferred to Vehicle Operations Assistant and was later promoted to Supervisor in Vehicle Operations and served in that position until he retired in October 1992. Harold joined Prince Hall Masons of Kansas. He served as Past Master Prudence Lodge #6, Past High Priest Siroc Chapter No.4, H.R.A.M., Past Eminent Commander Mid-West Commandery No. 37, Knights Templar, Past Most Excellent Grand High Priest, Holy Royal Arch, Past Right Eminent Grand Commander, Knights Templar, Past Most Royal Grand Chief Engineer Order of Cyrenes, Secretary Siroc Chapter No.4, recorder Mid-West Commandery No. 37, Eminent Grand Recorder Prince Hall Grand Commandery Knights Templar State of Kansas, member of Koran Temple No. 33 (Shrines), Orient Consistory No. 19, Heroines of Jericho and Order of Cyrenes. William Harold Johnson leaves to cherish his memories, his brother, Jewell; four children: Dwyanne Edward, Laura Olivia, Judith Anne, and Anita Faye; best friend, Super Emmanuel; eight grand-children; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Service for Brother William H. Johnson will be held Saturday March 10, 11:00 a.m at Community Fellowship Church of Jesus Christ, 3838 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Church.
