Ms. Alice Young

Obituary Alice J. (Wells) Young was born to James Wells and Matilda Gemes Wells in Kansas City, KS, October 3, 1953. The family relocated to Kansas City, MO in 1955. Alice was educated in the Kansas City, MO Public School System graduating from Paseo High School in 1971. Go Pirates!!! Alice received her Associate Degree from Penn Valley Community College. Alice worked for Hallmark Cards before relocating to St. Louis, MO. While in St. Louis, Mo, Alice placed her membership with the Florissant Church of Christ, Florissant, MO. It was in St. Louis, MO she married Willis E. Young. To this union one child was born. While in St. Louis, MO, Alice worked for Mallinckodt Pharmaceuticals before moving on to Emerson Electrical for 18 years. Upon returning to Kansas City, MO, Alice worked for the Kansas City, MO Police Department. She moved up the leader working for serval commanders. She worked for the department for 22 years before retiring in 2017. Alice reunited with the Swope Parkway Church of Christ where she was baptized in 1973. She loved her church family. She enjoyed the many events with her small group ministry. Alice was a faithful member of the Lord’s church until her health no longer allowed her to attend service. Alice was a loving person. She was a people person, greeting all with a smile. She loved to cook, play cards and teach. But above all, she loved her family. Both parents preceding her in transition. Alice leaves to cherish her memory her precious daughter, Andrea Renee Young. Her sister (her care giver), Mary L. Winn, two brothers, Joseph and Edward Wells – all of the city. One niece, Mylan D. Winn, two great nephews, Donnell D. and Gregory S. Winn and a host of family and friends. Alice Joe “baby” will be truly missed. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022, 11:00am at Swope Parkway COC 5620 Swope Pky KCMO. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9am-11am at the church.
