Albert Porter

Obituary Albert Porter passed away on June 14, 2018 at the home. He was born to the union of Alphonso, Sr. and Ruby Porter on June 22, 1954. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Leroy Harper and Alfonso Porter, Jr. Albert attended Central High school in Kansas City Missouri. He was well known by the name "Hookeye." and was loved by many. His home was the family "go to" spot for many family functions or just to hang out. Albert had a love for cooking. He was well known for his gumbo and greens. There was nothing that he could not cook. All those who came in contact with him walked away feeling loved as he touched so many people. He was definitely a people person and extremely family oriented. You could always find Albert sitting in the backroom on the sofa (his favorite spot) watching television. Albert retired from the City of Kansas City after many years of service. He was united in marriage to his love, Debra Ann Thompson on February 14,1999. He truly loved his wife as he affectionately referred to her as "Mama" when talking to her. Albert was baptized at the age of twelve years old at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ under the leadership of the late Reverend Earl Able. He truly believed in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Albert Porter leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Deborah Ann Porter; his son, Martes Allen (Moosehead); stepsons, Albert Allen and Brian Thompson; stepdaughter, Bynika Wells; brothers: Monroe (Shirley) Harper, Leon Jones, Theodus (Cathy)Jones and Sam (Gina) Porter; brother-in-law, William Poole; sisters: Wanda (William Earl) Russell, Barbara (William) Warren, Sandra (Frederick) Morgan, and Mary, sisters-in-law, Beverly Harper and Yolanda Thompson-(Chris) Martin; and a host of grandchildren, a great- granddaughter, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Albert loved each and every one of his nieces and nephews. He had a special love for his niece, Nicole Porter-Collins whom he adored not only as his niece but like a daughter. Albert will be missed. Funeral Service for Albert Porter will be held Friday, June 22, 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins Heritage Chapel, 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Heritage Chapel.
