William E. Russell was born on June 2, 1935 to the union of William Russell and Fannie M. Gaines-Russell. He was the first of four children. William was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Missouri. He was employed with the Kansas City Public Works Department for over 30 years and decided to retire in 1988. He then chose to drive the school bus for Ryder & First Student for many years. William was a diehard bowler for more than 50 years. He was also a member of The Midwest Bowlers Association Gill. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching sports on TV.
Mr. Russell departed this life on April 3, 2019. He was preceded in this transition by his parents William Russell and Fannie M. Gaines- Russell, two sisters; Martha L. Siggers and Anna Russell, one brother; Earl M. Russell and one daughter; Billie J. Russell.
He leaves a legacy of family to cherish in his memories one son; William (Wanda) Russell, two daughters; Patsy Hutton and Donna Russell, six grandchildren; Donna N. Hyche, Martrice S. Hutton, Felicia M. Harrison, Derrick D. Hutton II, Stanley M. Harrison, William E. Russell Jr., and fourteen great grandchildren. A special Lifelong companion Sammie Hicks, with this union he gained two daughters, Flora (Charles) Grayson, Stephanie (Ronnie) Mead, Tina (Lonnie) Johnson, and son John Hicks, grandchildren; Robin (James) Perry, Raena (DeMarreco) Tinnon, Regina (Tre) Wilson, Reginald Mead, Polly Allen, and a host of extended family and friends.
