October 1, 2018, Virginia Hams Sage, loving mother of five children, transitioned from this earth at the age of 86. Virginia was born on February 23, 1932 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Herman and Estella Farmer. She studied business and was a professional seamstress and tailor. She married Joseph F. Hams and raised three daughters, Yasmin, Shicagolyn and LaTanya and two sons Pierre and Darryl Hams, and grandson Brandon Dange whom she raised as her own son.
While working as a senior citizen site manager for the MidAmerica Regional Council she had a passion for clothing design and interior design. Virginia affectionally known as “Dolly” was known for her ability to create festive occasions that were truly memorable.
Virginia was preceded in her death by her husband Joseph; her parents Herman & Estella Farmer; her daughter LaTanya and son Darryl. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Herman, Howard and Michael and sister Maxine. Virginia is survived by three children, Yasmin, Shicagolyn and Pierre; her sisters Jeanette and Cheryl; brother Ernest; six grandchildren; thirteen great- grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services were held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at St. James United Methodist Church KCMO
