Rubylee Hoy Johnson was born to the union of Jack and Ida Mae Christian Hoy, on September 26, 1930. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers: Wilford, Frank and Lester Hoy; and one niece, Kimberly Hobenu. She was reared in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from Wichita North High School class of 1948. After high school, she attended and graduated from Kansas City Missouri General Hospital no.2 School of Nursing, class of 1950. She retired from Senior Estates Nursing Home as Director of nursing in 1995. She was a Registered Nurse for over 50 years. Rubylee was a member of the Heart of America Sisterhood Group no. 5 for twenty years. She was an avid gardener, reader and traveler. She volunteered at St. Louis Food Pantry for many years until her health began to decline. Rubylee married the love of her life, Herschel Jr. in 1951 on New Year’s Eve, and they remained married for 54 years. Since 1963, Rubylee was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother (Yan). She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughter Deanna (Frank) Lloyd; son, Michael (Lisa) Johnson, 3 wonderful grandchildren, Ronnell Johnson, Breanna and Melissa Lloyd; 4 nieces Pamela Johnson, Tracey Hoy, Sabrina (Willie) Walker and Crystal Hoy; 1 nephew Brian (Margaret) Hoy Sr; 2 cousins, James King, Kenneth Goodwin; 2 sisters-in-law’s Frances and Sylvia Hoy, along with a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at St. Louis Catholic Church 5930 Swope Parkway, KCMO 64130. Visitation 9:00 a.m. Interment 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2019 in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
