Rosie L. Martin Trimble


Rosie L.Martin Trimble, affectionately known as “Rosie was born to Joanna Evans and James Talmadge Martin on August 24, 1914, in Stringtown, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of six brothers and two sisters. She was baptized at an early age.

Rosie was a Centenarian, blessed to live one-hundred and three years. She peacefully transcended to her new life on December 30, 2017.

Rosie was preceded in death by, her parents, her husband, two children, Clyde Trimble and William Smith, a grandson, Keith Smith, four brothers, Emmit, Manning (Evon), Ralph Manning (Rosie), Williams Manning, Jr., and Roosevelt Manning, one sister, Gracie Neal (Cleveland) and a special nephew, Joe Washington.

In growing up, Rosie was a “tomboy” and loved horseback riding. Her grandfather nicknamed her “Tommy”. She was close to her family and adored by her stepfather, William Rufus Manning.

Rosie married her childhood sweetheart, Willie Trimble. They were united many years and had three children, Clyde, Wilma, and Phyllis. The family moved from Stringtown, Oklahoma to Parson, Kansas, on to Kansas City, Missouri to seek a better life. She did Day Work, cleaning homes to help provide for her family.

Rosie joined Jamison Memorial Temple CME Church and was a devoted member for over sixty years. She was active in the Missionary Society, Victory Board member, and attended Sunday School. She read her Bible faithfully. She was quiet and soft-spoken with a gentle smile always showing love to others. She seldom expressed anger or displeasure, but when she spoke, she meant what she said. Her key to living a long stress-free life was having “patience”.

As a longtime Kansas City resident, Rosie took pride in voting. She loved cooking, crafts, and crocheting. She was active in the 30th and Agnes Neighborhood Club. She lived at Paraclete Manor twenty-eight years until her health declined last year.

Martin Trimble leave to cherish her memories, a daughter, Phyllis Franklin of Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren: Danielle Franklin and Kenya Franklin both of Kansas City, Missouri, Phillip Franklin of Springfield, Missouri and Todd Trimble (Brenda) of Gilbert, Arizona; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Lahoma Fulsom of Haskell, Oklahoma; two brothers, Jerry Martin of Los Angeles, California and James Martin, Jr. of Lawton, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Lillian, Trimble of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Jean Manning and Wilma Manning both of Kansas City, Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Service for Rosie L. Martin Trimble will be held Thursday, January 11, 11:00 a.m. at Jamison Temple CME, 3115 E. Linwood Blvd.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church.

Interment, Blue Ridge Lawn Cemetery.
