OSCAR ROBERTS JR.
Oscar Roberts Jr. was born in Independence, LA on January 11, 1928 to Oscar Roberts Sr., and Mary McKnight. He is proceeded in death by parents and sisters Marilyn Bernard and Thelma Blackwell, Augustine Ketchems. Oscar married Barbra J. Roberts on Nov 2, 1992 and she precedes him in death. Oscar attended Xavier College prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army. He retired after serving 20 years in Europe, Korea, Vietnam, Japan, and throughout the United States. He also attended St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth, Kansas. He was employed by the department of Justice Bureau of Prisons after retiring from the army. He retired from the bureau, with 19 years of service. He worked as the Environmental Officer for two years with the city of Leavenworth after he completed duties with the bureau of prisons. He spent his retirement caring and loving his wife Barbara, traveling across the country and spending quality time with friends and family. His fraternal affiliation and participation include: Master’s degree Mason 35 years, (Kansas and Missouri), having served as Worshipful Master twice during that period. Our beloved Oscar is survived by daughter, Robin Bates and son Andre Roberts; one sister Olivia Johnson, one granddaughter Dominique Hamilton, one great granddaughter Jordin Regina De’Nise and a host of nephews and nieces. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Watkins Heritage Chapel. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Watkins Heritage Chapel.
