Searcy L. Reynolds peacefully departed her earthly home on March 30, 2018.

Searcy was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 28, 1937, to Olivia and Isaiah Barnes.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sibling, Elteser Helms.

Searcy’s childhood was spent in Kansas City, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Charles E. Hudgens and to this union two children were born, Deborah and Gary Hudgens. Her marriage to Charles Hudgens was dissolved and she later married Roy H. Reynolds. The family was extended with four more children that she helped raise as her own: Donzell Reynolds, Sherry Reynolds, Carmen Reynolds and Bridgett (deceased).

Searcy attended the Kansas City, Missouri School District. She attended R.T. Coles and Lincoln High, where she graduated in 1955. As a young mother she kept educating herself and went to nursing school to further her education and provide for her family. She worked as a Bookkeeper for Statland Clinic and at numerous medical facilities. She retired from the Isle of Capri Casino as Lead Security where she was employed for twelve years. Searcy had friends that loved her, too numerous to name, but her special “Sista friends” include, Elenor Davis (Lena) and Velma Calvin “Pam”. She loved the Lord and attended Ward Chapel AME, where she served as Steward and Usher as well and served faithfully until her health failed.

Searcy Reynolds leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Deborah and Gary Hudgens of Kansas City, Missouri; siblings, Isaiah and Leontine’ Barnes; two step-daughters, Sherry and Carmen Reynolds;  one step-son, Donzell Reynolds; one grandson, Djuan Barrow; nieces, nephews, and a host of loving friends.

Funeral Service for Searcy Reynolds will be held Monday, April 9, 11:00 a.m. at Ward Chapel AME Church, 2128 Prospect Avenue.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church.
