Mr. Pinky Jenkins
Mr. Pinky Eugene Jenkins began his life on January 28, 1929, in Kansas City, Kansas to the union of William and Alice Jenkins. His parents, brother William and sisters, Winnie Payne, Virginia Thomas and Hattie Mosley all preceded him in death.
Pinky received his education in the Kansas City, Kansas School District, attending Northeast and graduating from Sumner High School.
Pinky joined the Army on January 22, 1951 and was discharged with honors on January 23, 1953. He fought in the Korean War. He worked at Safeway Warehouse, and retired from Kansas City, Kansas School District as a bus driver and the Metro Bus Services. Pinky departed this earthly life on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 12:45 a.m., from Brighton Gardens of Prairie Village, in Prairie Village, Kansas.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted daughter, Leiah Taylor (Shawnee, KS) Takita Harris McKinney (Texas); one son Shawn Jenkins (Tamara) (Kansas City, MO); 10 grandchildren, Retiah, MeShon Newman, De’Shawn, Kenneth Savannah Jenkins, Jayden Banks, Ta’Kya Harris, SyAire, Timothy, Sanail Lamb’ one great granddaughter Trinitee R. Starr. Special niece Norvella Lawrence; a Special great niece Lonetta Taylor. A sister-in-law Geraldine Jenkins. Other nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Lawrence A. Jones and Sons Linwood Chapel 1800 East Linwood Blvd. Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation 9:00 a.m. Interment at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 11th in Leavenworth National Cemetery 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, Kansas 66048.
