JUANITA BYERS YOUNGER
Juanita Byers Younger was born to the late Alonzo and Roberta Byers. On June 27, 1936 in Pascola, Mo. Later in life, the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she attended school and graduated from Lincoln /R.T. COLES Class of 1954. She furthered her education by entering Nursing School where she received an Associate Degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Nursing was Juanita’s “Nita’s” calling. She was compassionate, caring and loved to interact with her patients. Starting her career, she worked as an LPN at Queen of The World Hospital and Saint Joseph Hospital. Then her career as God saw her, she worked for the next 40 years at Veterans Administration of Kansas City, Missouri where she retired. After retirement, she worked at several nursing homes. She also received numerous awards, training and certificates, from VA and UMKC. She received The Heart of Gold Award, Outstanding Rating Award, Services Awards and Performance Awards. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was
baptized at the early age of 13 while attending Sunrise Baptist Church, where she served as an Usher for numerous years. Juanita enjoyed her family. She held dinners, parties and enjoyed going on outings. She loved to dance. Juanita was a member of the Westside Memory Club. She Kept a smile on her face. She was loved by all and gave love in return. We will truly miss her. Juanita was united in holy matrimony to Raymond Lee Miller and to this union one child was born, Raynita Miller Lang. Raymond Preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her father Alonzo Byers; mother Roberta Byers; brothers James E. Byers, Theodore Roosevelt Byers Ethel Byers and Fermon (Byers) Hampton; sister Gladys Ashford and Flossie (Byers) Benson; and former husband Harold Younger. She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter’s Raynita Lang (Maurice), Valerie Reid, granddaughter Elaine McKenzie (Redondo), grandson Maurice Lang, Jr., sister Elizabeth Miller; and a host of nephews, nieces and close friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Watkins Heritage Chapel 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. KCMO 64130. Visitation 9:00 a.m. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery.
