Mrs. Nunley was a fun loving, no nonsense woman. If you wanted to know the truth, ask Mrs. Nunley. She would give you her advice, sometimes unsolicited, but it came from her heart and her life's experiences. She often said, "I've been where you're trying to go." She was a strict parent, especially with her daughter, but, the most loving and affectionate mother to both her children. The neighborhood teens on 57th and Michigan, where she raised her children, often sought out her witty wisdom. She was a past member of St. Stephen Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. John W. Williams. She was also a past member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Emanuel A. Johnson. During the mid to late 70's, she worked at St. Therese Little Flower as a Montessori school teacher. She went on to work in the food service industry at various cafeterias. Her last employment before becoming ill was at Costco as a food demonstrator. She loved meeting new people and striking up conversations with total strangers. She was former member of the Order of Eastern Star of Missouri and was a former past Worthy Matron of Queen of Sheba chapter 19.
