James Henry Davis was born on December 29, 1949, to the union of James and Annie Mae Davis in Kansas City, Missouri.
James departed this life May 17, 2018.
James was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School District. He retired from the Standard Oil Company at an early age. He also worked for RL Polk and Company, Payless Cashways, and Price Chopper, where he worked in the Seafood Department.
James received Christ at an early age at 9th Street Gideon Baptist Church under Reverend Hooker. He later united with New Hope Baptist Church where he continued his membership until his passing.
In 1983, he married Leta Craddock and they would have been married thirty-five years as of May 19, 2018. James loved music and would sing at any opportunity. He cultivated music in all the kids at an early age, sitting them down to listen or to sing along. He sang secular music with various groups in the Kansas City area. The last group being, “Down to Earth” with his brothers-in-law until he decided to sing only gospel music. His greatest love in his later years was singing with A Joyful Noise Community Choir which he was a founding member of and gave them their name.
James Henry Davis leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Leta: three sons: JD Kirkwood, Michael (Michelle) Craddock, and Steven Yancy; two daughters, Meda (Danny) Kimber and Davona Michelle Kirkwood; his sister, Denise Frazier; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service for James Henry Davis will be held Saturday May 26, 10:00 a.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 4733 Elmwood.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Church.
Interment, Brooking Cemetery.
