JONATHAN P. WALKER Jr.
Jonathan P. Walker, 39, departed this life on January 2, 2020 at a care facility in Overland Park Kansas. Jonathan was born on November 29th, 1981 in Kansas City, Missouri to Jonathan P. Walker Sr. and Janyce Cheryll (Sterling)Walker. Jon Jr. grew up in the Greater Kansas City area and attended Heart of America Christian Academy and graduated from Hickman Mills High School in the year 2000. He played all sports, but his love, was basketball. He was extremely talented with his gifted ability. After a brief stint in the US Army, he returned home, and gained employment with AT&T. Jon began his life as most promising young men, though, secretly suffering from his silent challenges of life, "Jon’s hidden Story.” Jon's struggle began as a young adolescent and continued for the greater part of his adult life. Jon's illness for years would continue to affect decision making which consequently brought him in contact with the justice system. Ironically, it was brought to light, during one of these encounters, and after receiving medical attention, that Jon Jr. was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. Though extremely intelligent, he faced an array of pitfalls in attempting to live this life.
On February 28th, 2019, Jon encountered a tragic incident, which left him as a quadriplegic. Jon did not allow his condition to destroy his heart or his soul. With proper medical treatment, Jon Jr. regained his stable intellect he began to live a fruitful life, Jon, accepted Christ as his personal savior, before his death. Jon enjoyed his praise and worship services on Sunday afternoon, with his family. " Of course, always after his beloved clippers game.” He especially loved to hear the reading from Joyce Meyer "The Secrets of Spiritual Power- The Joy of Believing Prayer." Jonathan P. Walker Jr. and (Jennifer Wallace deceased) were parents to one son, Isaiah Wallace. Jonathan P. Walker Jr. was preceded in death by his mother, Janyce C. Walker, his Grandmother, Addie B. Hill (Cook), Grandmother, Juanita Blanchey and Grandfathers, Paul F. Walker and James W.L. Hill. Jonathan P. Walker Jr. leaves to mourn, his Father, Jonathan P. Walker Sr., his stepmother, Chere Y. Walker Barton, his brothers Jeffrey Francis Walker and Phillip E. Pernell II and sister, Sharon Wynn. He leaves his Aunt Lauren Allen, Aunt Jameszetta Ohajazu, Aunt Rose Anderson, and Uncles Amanuel L. Hill, Uncle Gregory Hill, Uncle Jackie Sterling and host of cousins and relatives.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Lawrence A. Jones and Sons Linwood Chapel. Visitation 9:00 a.m. Interment Brooking Cemetery.
