Ivory Gordon "I.G." Terry was born on January 25, 1929, in Kansas City, Missouri to Ivory D. and Fannie E. Terry. He was the oldest of four children.
A TIME TO JOURNEY
His grandparents Robert and Nannie Gordon played an intricate part in raising him. He attended school in the Kansas City School District. He worked for Rival Manufacturing Company in Kansas City, Missouri. Later he moved to Los Angeles, California where he retired from the Los Angeles Police Department after 20+ years as a Mechanic. After his retirement IG’s passion for motorcycles led him to purchase several and his favorite one being the "Goldwing". He expressed how much he loved sneaking his grandchildren on his motorcycle and taking them on rides around Longview Lake.
A TIME TO LOVE
Ivory accepted Christ at an early age. He was married to Ella, Ruth, Gloria (whom are all deceased) Hazel and Vivian Terry. Those gray eyes and smooth conversations captured them every time.
A TIME TO DEPART
Ivory made his transition on August 7, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Theresa Cunningham and Sarah Browne, his brother, Owen Terry, and his son, Steven Terry.
Ivory Gordon “I.G.” Terry, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory his sons: Ivory G. Terry, Jr., of Kansas City, Missouri, Micheal Terry (Lynette) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Kevin Terry (Lucy) of Fargo, North Dakota; his daughters: Mildred Terry of Denver, Colorado, DeEtta Terry-Champ of Los Angeles, California and Sheila Robinson of Kansas City, Missouri; siblings, Rosetta E. Smith of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Nannetta B. Nash; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces; and a very special friend, Mary Williams.
Funeral Service for Ivory Gordon “I.G.” Terry, Sr. will be held Saturday, August 18, 10:00 a.m. at Grace Church of Kansas City, 6800 E. 116th Street.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Church.
Interment: Forest Hill Cemetery.
