Gertrude Arlene Saxton was born on January 31, 1930 to parents, William Saxton, Sr. and Nannie Wilson Saxton.
Gertrude departed this life on December 25, 20019. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Clyde, Leon, William, Jr., Louis and her two sisters, Naomi and Helen.
Gertrude, affectionally known as “Aunt Gert” attended Douglas Elementary, RT Coles Junior High and gradated from Lincoln High School class of 1947. At a young age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Sunrise Baptist Church. In 2001, the Lord led her to become a member of Bread of Life Community Baptist Church where she served as an usher, Sunday School teacher and her most recent role as a mother of the church.
Gertrude has always worked in the food service industry. She retired from Hallmark Cards in August 1994 after 15 years as a pastry cook in the Crown Room. Her co-workers and employees enjoyed her desserts, especially her pies. Her infectious smile and laughter will truly be missed. Gertrude Arlene Saxton leaves to cherish her memories a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, her Bread of Life family and many friends. Funeral Services for Gertrude A.
