GEORGE PETTIFORD JR
George Pettiford Jr. was born on July 6, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was raised by his father George C. Pettiford Sr., and his grandparents Viola and Happy Pettiford. George passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018 in Kansas City, Missouri.
George was educated in the Kansas City Missouri School District where he attended Central Senior High School “Home of the Mighty Blue Eagles.” George was well known throughout the city and was known by many as “G.P.” or “Hollywood.”
As a child, George attended St. Stephen Baptist Church of Kansas City, Missouri. For thirty-four years, George was married to Bonnie Louise Pettiford.
Prior to retirement, George was proudly employed with the Tyson Foods Company for thirty-three years. George was preceded in death by four brothers; Eugene Pettiford, Bert Pettiford, Jonathan McGautha, Rodney McGautha, and one sister, Renee’ McGautha.
George is lovingly survived by his beautiful wife Bonnie, children: Millette, Nicole Verchell, Lazarus, Georgia (Yink), Gabrielle (Chase) and Frankie; four sisters, Rosiland, Joya (ED), Varolyn, Gina and Janet; brothers, Steven, Louis, and Vernon; twenty-nine grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends a plenty, and a very special friend Charlie “Blue” Clark.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at New Solid Rock Missionary Church 5007 East 24th Street KCMO. Visitation 9:00 a.m. Private disposition.
