GENE A. NUNALLY
Gene A. Nunally, was born in Holly Springs, Mississippi on January 23, 1947 to the late Mark and Connie Mae Nunnally. On August 1, 2019, Gene departed this life at home in Aurora, Illinois. Gene was affectionally nickel-named: “Baby Gene, Green Eyes and Poppy.” Gene was preceded in death by his late wife Ruby L. Nunnally of 34 years; parents, sisters-in-laws Johnnie Nunnally, Robertta Richmond, and Alberta Akins; brother Willie S. Nunnally; four brother’s -in-law Leroy Chalt, Milton Pegues, Ellis Glover and Willie B. Akin.
Gene was educated in School District of Holly Springs, Mississippi. Gene accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Adolphus Chapel C.M.E. Church in Holly Springs, Mississippi. He moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1966 and joined New Horizon Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life he moved to Aurora, Illinois and rededicated his life, becoming a member of the Original Temple of God.
Gene worked at Bartlett Grain Company for thirty-three years, and retired at the early age of fifty-one. He enjoyed fishing and basketball was his life. He played for the “Hawks, M&V, Just Friends, Preachers 510 and Club 71.”
Gene leaves to cherish his beautiful memories his wife Ester Nunnally; three daughters Loretta Chattman, Gloria Barnett (Jewell) and Doreane (Marlon) Pickett all of Kansas City, Kansas; two step-daughters Easter Balfour and Tonya Brooks both from Aurora Illinois; two sons Rickey Chattman and Lester Nunnally (Aleece) both of Kansas City, Kansas; nine sisters Bessie Pegues, Susie Glover, Mattie Moore (Edgar), Annie Hollowell (William), Connie Jones, (Daton), Olivia Stanford (Alan), Margaret (Jeff), and Mary Simmons all of Holly Springs, Mississippi, Ms. Catherine Pegues (Lloyd) of Aurora Illinois; five brothers, Mark Nunnally, Robert Nunnally, (Clara), Bennie Nunnally of Holly Springs, Mississippi, Louis Nunnally of Kansas City, Kansas, Joe Willie Nunnally (Annie) of Aurora, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Floyd Jr., Jonathan Lester, Jewell Jr., Vance JaNice (Bobbie Jo), Jaleesa, Alexis; step-grandchildren Jonathan (Janish) Jaslyn, and Kelvin; Great Grandchildren Kymora, Riquarion, Amierre, Malachi, Janyiah, Journii, Josiah, JoVeah.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00A.M. on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church 609 North 8th Street KCK. 66102. Visitation 9:00A.M. Interment Chapel Hill Cemetery KCK.
