ELDER JOHN H. MACKLIN

John H, Macklin was born in Kansas City, Missouri June 2, 1947.  His father died before his birth. He was raised by his mother Burnell Speaks and his stepfather Tyler Speaks. His parents provided a spiritual base for him.  He attended Barker Temple Church of God in Christ at an early age and was an active participant in the ministries of the church.  He preached his first sermon at the age of 4.  He remained faithful to Barker Temple Memorial Cathedral of Praise as an Elder until his passing.  John attended Kansas City Missouri Public Schools and was a 1966 graduate of Central High School.  John was a member of the Track Team and participated in two State Championship Relay Teams.  Central was where the singing group “The Citations” began.  Later, in years they were still making appearances at special events.  He attended Lincoln University and later graduated from Penn Valley with an Associate Degree. While at Lincoln he became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.  He loved Alpha Phi Alpha and was presented his 50th year pin on June 10, 2017.  He was licensed as a minister in 1969 and was ordained as an Elder in the Church of God in Christ in 1977.  Elder Macklin served as the Assistant Pastor of Emmanuel Temple Church of God and Christ.  He was the Founder of the New Beginning Ministry. He pastored Quindaro Church of God in Christ and Warren Street United Methodist in Warrensburg, Missouri.  He was and Associate Minister of St. James United Methodist Church for 15 years.  During this time, he served as the Pastor of Prayer, Minister of Evangelism and Pastor of Visitation.  Elder Macklin has trained and mentored aspiring ministers and pastors. He organized the prayer line ministry at St. James.  Elder Macklin also coalesced with several churches in the city for community outreach.  Bringing the word to the people in the community. He was an anointed man of God and was blessed with an amazing singing voice. He retired from the city of Overland Park, Kansas and began new careers with the State of Missouri.  He was recently employed with OWL Transportation and loved driving Veterans to the VA Hospital for appointments.  He often used his spiritual gifts while transporting our Veterans. He was married to Llene Sims and to this union three children were born, Andrea Jonathan and Joseph.  This marriage was dissolved He later married Patricia A. Jones.  He always said she was his gift from God.  He leaves to cherish his memories Patricia A. Jones Macklin (wife), his children Andrea (Kevin) Tribitt, Jonathan Macklin and Joseph (McClain) Macklin. His grandchildren Ayana Tribitt, Kaya Tribitt, DeSean Macklin, Xavier Macklin and Micah Macklin.  A special brother, Joseph (Rita) Mabin, Mother-in-law Sadie Brooks (Las Vegas) brother-in-law Willie Jones (Las Vegas), sister-in-law Trina Smith (Portland) the Sims Family, special cousins, nephews, nieces and nephews and dear friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 10, 2019 at St. James United Methodist Church.  Visitation 9:00 A.M. Interment Twelve Gates Memorial Gardens Cemetery. An ALPHA PHI ALPHA Service will be held at 10:30 A.M until time of service.
