Earleen L. Goldsby transitioned on November 1, 2018 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born in Bastrop, Texas on May 18, 1933 to Vera Estell Hyder and Earl Hyder, Jr. She enjoyed sharing stories about time spent at her Grandparent’s farm where she delighted in her Grandmother Lillian’s delicious “ from scratch cooking" and helping her grandfather “Big Daddy,” tend to chores, livestock, and being surrounded by her cousins.
She relocated to Kansas City and graduated from Lincoln High School in August of 1951. She married Roosevelt Goldsby, Jr. and he preceded her in death in 1985.
After training to become a Certified Dental Assistant, she went on to start a distinguished career at Wayne Miner Health Center and Samuel U. Rodgers Medical Center. For over forty years, she served in a range of capacities and was a beloved co-worker, friend and mentor to many.
"A woman of faith" In the early 90’s she was a member of Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church where she proudly served on the Usher Board. At the time of her departure she was a member of Fellowship Right Baptist Church.
On any given day you could find Ms. Goldsby extending God’s love through the guidance she’d offer anyone who she felt was in need. She put special emphasis on sharing her unique brand of wisdom with young people. She also lifted the spirits of her neighborhood during her long daily walks with her dog FedEx. She absolutely loved dressing up and gifting for the holidays, especially Christmas.
Memories of her legendary kindness, bold style, laughter, sense of humor and joy for living, will be treasured forever by those who had the good fortune to know her. A beloved mother and grandmother, she is survived by her daughters, Rachelle Hyder and Roselle Hyder of Kansas City, Missouri her grandchildren Hope Hyder, and Hethe Hyder and her Aunt Annette Hurt and an extended network of family in Austin, Texas.
Her spirit lives on in the many good works she committed during her time on this EARTH. Praise be to God for the gift of her presence. May she rest in eternal comfort and divine peace.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Fellowship Right Baptist Church 7400 Pittman Road, Kansas City, MO 64133. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery.
