Delores “Dee-Dee” Malone passed away on December 22, 2019 in North Kansas City Hospital-Hospice Care surrounded by family.
Delores was born to Maybell and James Smith December 8, 1947 in Kansas City, MO. When her mother passed, at age 12, she moved around with 2 younger siblings a few years until they were taken in by her Great Aunt Evangelist Willie Stuckey of Kansas City, KS. Delores accepted Christ at a young age and attend Church of the Living God (C.W.F.F.) of Kansas City, KS. She attended and graduated from Topeka Vocational School in Topeka, KS. She and oldest son later met and married Don Malone on October 24, 1972 and to that union were born 3 children, for total of 4 children.
Dee-Dee worked at Pembrook Hill School and then St. Luke’s Hospital where she was forced to an early retirement in 2006 due to failing health.
Delores is preceded in death by her mother Maybell Smith, Father James Smith, brother Willie Alexander, sister Lettie Brazil, brother Augustus Smith.
She will be best remembered for the way she laughed and showed love through her cooking. She loved to cook for her entire family and would tell any stranger that would listen to her about how she loved to cook and what she’d make for the family. After she retired, she would spend Christmas in California and cook huge meals for the family there. Her famous meatloaf mix, greens and cinnamon rolls will truly be missed.
Delores recently joined her lifelong friend’s church, Sharon Ford, Memorial Christian Outreach Ministry in October 2019.
She is survived by her four children, Raymond Smith, Yusuf (Roxy) Malone, Asia (David) Fristche, Maryam Malone, Brother Clarence (Diana) Jackson, Sister Yvonne Smith. Grandchildren: Cassandra, Xavier, Morgan, Yusuf Jr., Raymond Jr., Jackson and Flash. Three beautiful great grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews. Special friends Sharon, Garnetta and Rosie.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Watkins Heritage Chapel 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. Kansas City, Missouri 64130. Visitation 9:00 a.m. Internment Twelve Gates Cemetery
