DOROTHY MAE MAGEE

Mrs. Dorothy Magee Washington-Magee was born November 4, 1921 to Walter Washington and Mamie Baker-Washington. She was the eldest child of 17 children. Dorothy departed this life on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 in her home with family beside her. Dorothy excepted Christ in 1937 in Abbot, Texas. In 1941 she met and Married Oliver Curtis Livingston in Waco, Texas. To this union two children were born. Dorothy moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1955. She was a cook at Morgan Steak House.  She met Willie S. Magee Sr., on August 7, 1957; they married.  Dorothy was one of the 8 founders of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. These individuals marched from 3512 East 27th Street to 3001 Cleveland Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri.  Dorothy Magee was the first lady for 42 years.  While attending Shiloh church, her seat was always on the left side, second row of the church.  She was president of the Missionary Board, Director of the Senior Choir, Sunday School Teacher, Assistant Superintend of the Sunday School, and she also played the piano. 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Joyce Marie Livingston, two sons Walter Oliver Curtis Livingston Jr., Stepson Willie S. Magee Jr. One granddaughter Tonice R. Garret, great grandson Lamonte Livingston-Bailey, four sisters Margaret Washington (Diggs) Lillian Ruth Washington, (Vick) Pearle Washington (Davenport), Charles Bell Washington (Lee) and Willie B. Johnson, four brothers-J.D.  Washington. Lawrence Washington, Leon (Red) Washington and Nathaniel Boyd (Boy) Washington.

She leaves behind to cherish her beautiful memory, children, Bernita Ferguson-Livingston, (Emanuel), Darryl C. Livingston (Georgia), Nichetra Magee; four sisters Lena Elizabeth Miles (Clarence), Willie Pearl Washington (Crane), Bertha Towler and Jackie Bowman; three brothers Laymon Washington, C.L. (Joe) Washington (Leslie B.)and Essie Jones Jr;  Great Grandkids Tanisha, Shanise, Joyce, Kerria, Dominick, Darryl Jr., M’ikel, Darron and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Macedonia Baptist Church 1700 East Linwood Blvd. Kansas City, Missouri. 64109. Visitation 9:00a.m. Interment                    Monday, August 19, 2019 in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
