Carl V. Brown

January 31, 1942 ~ February 18, 2018 (age 76)

Carl was born on January 31, 1942, to Artie Opal Tinsley and Eugene Rosebud Brown. He was the first-born son of nine children.

 On Sunday, February 18, 2018, Carl passed away with his beloved wife at his side.

He was preceded in death by mother, Artie O. Tinsley, father, Eugene R. Brown, brother, Marquette Brown, and sisters, Agneta Brown and Auxoavsse Mae Brown.

Carl attended and graduated from Central High School in 1960. He joined the United States Army after graduating and served his country for four years during the Vietnam Conflict.

Carl was a hardworking man. He took pride in wood-working and the upkeep of the home he built in 1967. Carl worked at Kenworth and Yellow Freight but found occupation with the Aviation Department of Greater Kansas City where he worked for over twenty years and retired in April of 2007.

Carl enjoyed fishing, boxing, investing, Royals baseball and watching the Chiefs on Sundays. In his last years he enjoyed watching the Price is Right, The Young & The Restless, Bold & Beautiful and Let’s Make a Deal.

Carl was a man with the gift to speak with anyone, anywhere, at any time and leave a lasting impression. His advice and words of wisdom helped shape many lives and provided comfort in times of need. 

Carl married Elena in 1987, and they were happily married for over thirty years.

Carl V. Brown is survived by his wife, Elena Brown; his five children, Carl V. Brown Jr., Anthony Brown, Geneva A. Bayno, William “Phillip” Morris, and Giovanni L. Brown; his brothers, David Brown and Reginald Brown; sisters, Sharon Brown, Linda Brown (Newton) and Doletha Tinsley, grandchildren: Vincent, Kiara, Tiara, Kayla, Malaya, Myracle, and Gabriel; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, in-laws, and friends.

Funeral Service for Carl V. Brown will be held Saturday, March 3, 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins Heritage Chapel, 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins Chapel.

Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery.
