Bennie Franklin Harrison Sr. was born November 13, 1929 in Sparkman, Arkansas to the union of Benjamin F. Harrison and Annie Mae Summerville Harrison, who preceded him in death. The Harrison family moved to the Kansas City, Kansas area where he received his education. He was a proud member of Sumner High School Class of 1947.  Bennie joined the United States Army April 1951, and later joined the Army reserves and retired after 32 years of service. Bennie enjoyed his membership in the Prince Hall Mason, Olive Branch Lodge #74. He received his distinguished 50 years GOLD CARD in recognition for Continuous Service. He was united in marriage for over sixty-six years to Helen Jean Wells and to this union four children were born. He later moved to Kansas City, Missouri with his family.  Bennie was a devoted Christian and baptized at a young age. Bennie loved working in the church. He was a Deacon and held numerous positions at Mount Carmel Baptist Church KCKS. He later moved his membership to Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Frank McClenton and currently Rev. Earnest Greenlee. Bennie was employed by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and retired after 42 years of service. He received numerous awards and accolades.  After retirement, he enjoyed carpentry, traveling (numerous countries) and spending time with family. Bennie truly enjoyed attending the Dawn/Harrison family reunions in Arkansas, Missouri and California. He was preceded in death by three siblings Bessie Mae Springfield, Delois Benita McDowell and Frank Lewis Harrison Sr. He leaves to celebrate and honor his life’s journey his devoted wife, Helen Wells Harrison; children Janella M. Harrison, Chicago, IL, Bennie F. Harrison Jr. (Yolande) Plano, TX, Alisa J. Thomas (Milton) and Lanora J. Harrison, Kansas City, MO. Brothers; Robert J. Harrison, Willingboro, NJ and Clifford Eugene (Janice) Jackson, Overland Park, KS. Sister Hellene R. Moore, Kansas City, KS and brother- in- law Harold J. Wells, Shawnee, KS. Grandchildren Brian Harrison, Brittney Harrison and Brandon Harrison.  Great-grandson Kory Harrison; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and the Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church family.  A Masonic Services will be held at 8:30 A.M. on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church 4126 Indiana KCMO.  Visitation 9:00 A.M. Interment 1:30 P.M. in Leavenworth, National Cemetery.
