Obituary

Mrs. Aser Lee (Edward) Brownlee slipped quietly from this life into everlasting on October 14, 2019 in Kansas. She was born on May 17, 1928 to Julia McNairy and John Edwards in Aberdeen, Mississippi. She was the youngest of three children. Her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, husband, siblings and four children (Willie McNairy, Willie J. Brownlee, Doris Brownlee, Norris Brownlee) proceeded her in death.

Aser was educated in the Aberdeen, Mississippi school system. She was united in holy matrimony to Eddie Brownlee on September 29, 1945. To this union nine children were born. They were married for 56 years.

Her confession of faith was acknowledged at Baptist Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Prairie, MS at the age of ten.

Aser spent time with her sister Mary Westbrook singing at various churches. When she came to Kansas City she united with Tabernacle Baptist Church. She was in the choir and served on the Mother Board until her health failed.

Aser worked as a Histology Tech for twenty eight years at St. Margaret and Providence Hospitals, retiring in 1988.

She loved music, quilting, watching “Law and Order “, cooking and spending time with her family. Her greatest love was traveling. She visited Canada, Mexico, The Caribbean Islands, and forty of the United States.

She was a member of The Heart of America Sisterhood, Inc. for over twenty years. This group allowed her to help those in need and promote sisterhood. She also helped start a group called Saints and Sinners that would socialize and help those in need.

Aser Lee Brownlee, Willie Thomas, and Alma Jean Price, lovingly known as “The three Amigos”. These women were like sisters. They lived in the Armstrong Community, attended church together, and now they’re with The Master in Heaven.

Left to cherish her memories are three sons, Eddie Jr., Dennis, Julius (Rhiana), all of K.C.Ks. three daughters, Bessie Jackson, Joyce Brownlee, Wanda Paige, of K.C.Ks. and  one sister in law Georgie Powell of K.C. MO. A special niece Maxine Madison, 33 grand, 73 great-grand, 15 great great grand, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
