Yvonne B. Norton

Obituary Yvonne B. Norton departed this life on May 1, 2021. She was born at the Homer G. Phillips Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri on November 16, 1951, to the union of Catherine Fox Blackwell and Elmer Blackwell. Her parents, grandparents and a host of other relatives preceded her in death. She was baptized in 1958; a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, St. Louis, Missouri under the pastoral-ship of the late I. T. Moore and Ronal C. Bridewell. She was an active member of the choir, usher board, Pastor’s Aid Ministry and Sunday School. Yvonne was a graduate of Washington Elementary, Sumner High School and the Municipal School of Nursing, St. Louis, Missouri. Yvonne’s first jobs: Operating Room Secretary and O. R. Technician. After becoming an R.N., she worked in the capacities: Operating Room Clinical Nurse, Public Health Nurse, CAN Instructor, Clinical Nurse Manager on Medicine Unit, Supervisor (House) in Long Term Care Facility, Infection Control Surveillance Nurse, E. R. Sids Visiting Home Health Care, Private Duty Nurse, Yvonne retired in 2018. Yvonne moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1977; joined the Palestine Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Earl Abel. She was a member of the choir and Sunday School. She united with the St. Stephens Baptist Church three-five years later under the pastoral-ship of the late Pastors Williams and Mac Charles Jones. Later she reunited with the St. Stephen Baptist Church in 2004 under the leadership of Pastor Eric D. Belt. She had been an active member of the Ecclesiastes Choir, Rhoda Circle Mission, Sunday School Teacher, Senior Service Ministry, Health Care Team until deterioration of health. Yvonne is survived by her daughter, Catrina Doll Blackwell of Grandview, Missouri; grandson, Robert Christopher Blackwell (Erica) of North Kansas City, Missouri; granddaughters, Roneisha Yvonne Rush of North Kansas City, Missouri, Karia Lynett Tucker of Fort Worth, Texas; former son-in-law, Karey Lawrence Tucker of Laredo, Texas; five great grandchildren; cousin, Barbara Loren Parks (Ronnie) of Grandview, Missouri; sister-in-law but sister by heart, Melva C. Calbert of Kansas City, Missouri; nephews, Clifton Roland of Kansas City, Missouri and Eric Calbert (Evyuan) of Grandview, Missouri and other relatives and friends. Private Disposition.
