Winnie Kearney

Obituary Winnie Bell Kearney, 85, was born on December 23, 1935 in Kilbourne, Louisiana to the union of Elias Kearney and Irene (Weston) Kearney. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Robbie Kearney, daughter, Jacqueline Kearney Greer, brother, Earnest Kearney, sister, Carrie "TT" Elder and son-in-law, Robert Greer. Winnie resided in Eudora, Arkansas and was educated in the Eudora, Arkansas public schools. In 1953 she relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, where she continued her education at R. T. Coles Vocational High School. She completed her managers training course at the Kansas City Vocational Center, in 1983. Winnie was employed by the Kansas City School District for over 25 years, her last position was food service manager at Logan Elementary School until she retired in 1998. She loved to cook, especially for her family and the kids at Logan School. She was quite the jokester, cracking jokes and would "put you in check". Winnie was a member of the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Wallace S. Hartsfield, Sr. and current Pastor Dr. Wallace S. Hartsfield II. She loved to travel especially Houston, Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada. She rarely missed a day of watching her favorite T. V. shows, The Price Is Right, Family Feud (with Steve Harvey) and Judge Judy, (she always said, "I don't like that Judge Judy"), she also loved Dancing With The Stars. Winnie was blessed to have six wonderful children, three boys and three girls whom she loved dearly. She departed this life on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at the home. She leaves to cherish her memory, two devoted daughters, Robin "Zoe" Kearney, of the home and Yolanda "Yogie" Brown, Houston, TX; two special sons, Dexter Kearney, Kansas City, MO and Willie "Kirk" Kearney, Tulsa, OK; eighteen grandchildren, Angela (Damon), Sherrie, Natasha, Ashley, Erica, Erica, Ebony B (Charles), Dexter, Jr., Ebony K, Hali, Jazmin, Damarion, Willie Jr., Daisha, Destiney, Lanisa and Kayveair; sixteen great grandchildren, Jayla, Unique, Alana, Aniyah, Alex, Lola, Karlie, Landon, Krue, Darinya, Devine and Marie; a nephew, (like a son) Earnest "Don" Kearney, a host of other nephews, nieces other relatives and friends. Special caregivers, Jorinda McConner, Marchelle Woods and special friend, Freddie Austin. Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Friday, January 8th at Watkins Heritage Chapel 4000 Emanuel Cleaver Blvd KCMO 64130. Visitation 12pm. Interment Forest Hill & Calvary Cemetery.
