Mr. Willie Brown

Obituary A Native of Kansas City, Missouri, Willie Devon Brown was the first-born child of Willie and Helen Louise (Riley) Brown. Willie was affectionately known as Junior (Jr.). He received his formal education in the public schools of Kansas City, MO matriculating through Sanford B. Ladd Elementary, Central Jr. H. S., and graduating from Paseo H. S. in 1970. Willie continued his education at UMKC studying Mechanical Engineering with additional studies in Computer Information Technology earning certificates in CompTIA A+; ITF; and NET+, he scored first in his class overall grades. In Jr. H.S. Willie began playing the trumpet, he had earned First Chair placement in the band. While Jr. was a lifelong bachelor, he did have a friend he loved very deeply. He was a unique and good man, raising four children who were not his by blood, but by love. He poured fatherly love, wisdom and earthly resources into Ren’ee, Omar, Suliman, and Aisha. Willie helped his parents, siblings and later his family by choice through a persistent work ethic and a compassionate character. Starting with a paper route w ith The Call, at twelve he would go on to hold positions at Empire Cold Storage. and Philips 66 Filling Station with his dad, Sears & Roebuck, GM, National Enveop Company and finally U Haul. He was always noted for consistency and hard work by employers and teamwork by supervisors and co-workers. Jr was an avid bowler. He bowled in several local leagues reaching a highly proficient mature ranking. He dreamed of joining the Pro Bowle’s Association, He never could secure any sponsors necessary to compete on that level. He continued to bowl until his illness prevented him. His fellow bowlers called him “Ten Pin” because he always picked up the spare. At his best he bowled a 220-280 average Willie was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; his father and mother; several aunts, uncles, cousins an' some dear friends, as well as his special daughter Rene’e. He is survived by his younger twin sister and brother, Mrs. Denise (the Rev. Richard Allen) Williams of Dayton, OH and Dennis Brown of the City; one nephew and niece, Daniel A. Williams of Columbus, OH, Jeanne’ E. Williams and children of Black Jack, MO; His special sons and daughter, Omae Suliman, Aisha and their mother Tonya all of the City. To God be the Glory!
