Mr. Wendell D. Edwards, II

Obituary Reverend Wendell Dale Edwards II, was born at Menorah Hospital on December 19, 1970, to Wendell D. Edwards Sr. and Ada L. (Thomas) Edwards. Wendell was a product of the Unified School District 500, where he attended Quindaro Elementary School, Hawthorne Elementary School, West Middle School, and graduated from Washington High School in 1989. Wendell loved music, and at an early age, he received piano lessons from his aunt. In high school, Wendell participated in the jazz band, where he played the alto saxophone, and his love for music grew. Wendell continued his education at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Ks, and then transferred to Miles College in Birmingham, AL, where he received his bachelors in Accounting, in 1996. While attending Miles College he joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He later attended Martin University in Indianapolis, IN where he received his masters degree in Urban Ministry, in 2007. Wendell was a father, brother, son, uncle, pastor, coach, mentor, an author, and a true friend. Wendell accepted Christ at an early age. He was born and raised as a member of St. Peter C.M.E Church and he was an usher, participated in the choir, and delivered his first sermon at a young age. Wendell pastored and served numerous churches in the C.M.E Church for over 25 years. Wendell also was an educator where he taught math at Irving Middle School, in the Hickman Mills District, and he also coached Little League Basketball. Wendell finished his race and transitioned to his forever home on January 26, 2023. Leaving to cherish his memories are two children; Whitney Edwards, and Wendell D. Edwards III. His mother Ada (Thomas) Edwards; his sister Asha Edwards; a nephew Adoreun Pratt, and a niece Kezia Rono. Two special cousins Lisa (Davis) Jackson and Jessica (Brockman) Neal, and his Aunt Jean Madison. Along with other cousins and dear friends. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 4, 2023, 11am at St. Peters AME. Interment Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10am-11am at the church. Service conducted by Lawrence A.
