Mrs. Wanda Jean Boyd

Wanda Jean “Mee-Maw” Boyd, 70, was born January 17, 1954, in Shreveport, Louisiana the second child and first daughter to Emanuel Triggs and Carrie Lee Marshall. Wanda spent her early years in Shreveport, under the guidance and watchful eyes of her grandparents. Wanda started working at an early age, taking in laundry to help support her family at age 10. Arriving in Kansas City, Missouri at age 12, and was enrolled in Linwood Elementary. Wanda graduated from Central High School in 1972, quickly joins the medical billing field serving as a Data Processing Supervisory at Hospital Hill for over 27-years, then moving to Wyandotte Mental Health for another 25-years of service. While she was hired for her impeccable calculation and medical billing skills, Wanda’s true calling was the way she made you feel special. Wanda was always willing to provide the food and all the fun for any event big or small and Wanda was always the life of the party and always made everyone feel welcome. Wanda loved living in Shreveport and from an early age Wanda Jean learned to love and worship God, in all ways and in everything she did, and Wanda did just that! Joining Hollywood C.O.G.I.C., in Shreveport, LA at the very early age of 8 and it was there that Wanda was taught to honor God with her special gifts and she never hesitated. Singing and praising God was her mission and she, much like her grandmother took praise seriously. Wanda would often recite her grandmother saying, “Take God with you everywhere you go” and “Praising God is serious business”. Wanda lived and taught her children to live the same way, telling them “Ask Jesus to get in the car with you, don’t go nowhere without him!”. Singing at weddings and funerals upon request, sometimes at a moment’s notice and never accepting anything in return. Wanda just loved to praise God and comfort and support other while doing so. Wanda was a member of Shalom Missionary Baptist Church for over 28- years, joining April 21, 1996, where she proudly served on the Welcoming Committee as a greeter and an Alto in the Choir. Wanda lived a fruitful and complete life and she truly loved the Lord with her whole self, sharing his goodness with everyone she encountered. Wanda enjoyed spending time with her family and she could often be found sitting on her mother’s porch with her mom and her nieces. Watching the kids play in the park across the street. Wanda was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, sister and friend, who devoted her life to her mother, children and grandchildren. Wanda was a great cook and she was always wiling to make you something special or a plate to go of what she had already prepared for dinner that day. Wanda would often call her son-in-law Dell, to tell him she made him some liver and onions or a Reuban sandwich just because. Wanda took her last breath on April 20, 2024 at 9:11 pm, to rest from her pain and she will forever be missed by everyone who knew her . She leaves to cherish her memory her mother Carrie L. Jones, her daughter, Yolanda Gail Webb (Dell), of Belton, MO, her son Nicholas E. Boyd, of Kansas City, MO, her five grandchildren, Nikkole M. Boyd, Mariah A. Webb, Shaunte’ L. Webb, Donte’ R. Webb, Dell R. Webb Jr., eight great-grandchildren, a nephew, Michael S. Jones, two nieces, Erica L. Jones-Smith and Andrea L. Marshall and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends. She was proceeded in death by her beloved grand-parents, Ross and Nellie Marshall, her father, Emanuel Triggs, her uncles Andrew Mc Coy and Archie Marshall, her brother, Jerry E. Brown, her sister, Vicky L. Adams, her brother, Raymond C. Jones and her brother, Eric F. Jones. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, 11am at Shalom Missionary Baptist Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation from 10am-11am at the church. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may shared on our website.
