Obituary . Voris Gerard Bailey, Jr. was born on January 11, 1960, in Wichita, Kansas to the union of Voris Gerard Bailey, Sr. and Doris Jean Merida Bailey. "Gerry" as he was affectionately known by all those who knew him, accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a baby and was baptized at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Wichita, Kansas. Gerry, later moved to Kansas City, Kansas with both of his parents where they all united with Trinity A.M.E. Church in Kansas City, KS. He attended Hazel Grove Elementary, then went to Coronado Middle School, then Schlagle High School, where he played in the Band, and played Football, graduating from Schlagle High school, class of 1978. After High School, Gerry attended college at Texas Southern, along with a few other schools. Later, Gerry, was employed at Wyandotte High School working as a Teacher and Mentor for at risk Children. He Started a Radio Station at the school. Keeping his students busy and involved and teaching them working skills. Gerry had bought land and the blue prints at 5211 Parallel, KCKS. His dreams was to build and provide a place for the Inner City (At Risk Children). A Community Center. His health begin to fail and he was not able to fulfill his dream. Gerry was a member of the fraternity KAPPA ALPHA PSI.Later in life, Gerry united with Friendship Baptist Church, in KCMO, where he loved and spent attending Sunday School, Church Services for the last 11 years .His father, Voris Gerard Bailey, Sr. preceded him in death. Voris Gerard Bailey, Jr. departed this life on Saturday, January 28, 2023. He leaves to cherish his memory; His loving mother; Doris Jean Merida Bailey; His son, Christopher G. Cole Bailey, Sr; (Alexandra) his daughters, Diamond A. Bailey, Dalais A. Bailey; one (adopted sister) Lisa Sullivan; two grandchildren, Christopher G. Cole Bailey, Jr., Simon G. Bailey;Special Friend, Michele Byers, Special nieces, Myeisha Ford Bailey and C'awana Johnson; special cousins, Leisa Catlett (Leon) and Kevin Merida (Donna), and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial services Friday, February 10, at 11:00am at Friendship Baptist Church. Family hour at 10:00am-10:30, with Kappa Alpha Psi service at 10:30am at the church. Private Disposition.
