Obituary Verna Marie Jackson Estelle was born on February 20, 1941 to Orville Jackson Sr. and Ernestine Lucas in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the youngest born to this union. She attended public school in Kansas City, Kansas. Verna was married to Harold Estelle Jr. for 65 years. Over the course of her life, during a time when women were not readily accepted in the workplace, Verna worked at various companies which included Owens Corning and the City of Kansas City, Missouri as one of the final elevator operators. However, the job she had that surpassed all others was that of being a mom and she was one of the best. Verna was a very compassionate and caring person to all. She tried to take care of everyone she met. Filling her home with warmth and kindness - there was always food to eat, a shoulder to cry on, a helpful hand to lend and a funny story or two to share. Verna had a passion for music and always had her portable cassette player with plenty of cassettes at the ready to crank out the R&B Oldies she enjoyed. On one family road trip, she sang songs for seven hours straight and was affectionately given the nickname “jukebox” to add to those of “VerRee”, “VerMarie” and “ORee”. She will forever be missed and cherished by those who were both family and friend. Her parents, sisters Sylilia Anderson and Willa Jean Bennett, brothers Orville Jackson Jr., Leon Fritz, Eathan Fritz and Kevin Jackson, all preceded her in death and welcomed her at the gates of heaven. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Harold W. Estelle Jr. of Grandview, MO; her five children – Harold W. Estelle III (Teretha) of Grandview, MO; Annette Y. Crabtree of Grandview, MO; Brian K. Estelle (Eva) of Houston, TX; Dawn C. Hickman (Mark) of Lee’s Summit, MO and Correy S. Estelle of Omaha, NE. Her grandchildren – Stanley Crabtree, Jr., Brandon Crabtree, Dawnesha Estelle, Correy Estelle II, Taylor Estelle, Brandon Campbell, Chandler Estelle, Jordan Hickman, Asia Estelle, Corryn Estelle and Quinton Wolf. Her great-grandchildren – SaMaya’ Crabtree, Kiyh Crabtree, DaMarcus Wallace, Lexii Acevedo, Kane Crabtree and Kairo Crabtree as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and longtime friends. Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 4, 2022, 11:00am at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9am-11am at the chapel.
