THEODORE BELL SR.

Obituary Mr. Theodore (Ted) Bell Sr., of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, August 5th at the University of Kansas Medical Center at the age of 87. He was born in Haworth, Oklahoma on May 23rd, 1932 to the late Ollie (Bell) Grayson and Bennie Bell. Proceeding him in death, stepfather, McKinley Grayson, best friend and brother, Byrd Wesley Bell, one sister, Bennie (Bell) DeShay, and 1st cousins, Elisha, John, and Michael Tramble who were raised in the household after the passing of their mother Mary Dunn Tramble. The family relocated from Wright City, Oklahoma to Kansas City, Kansas in 1940, taking up residence at 1012 North 3rd street and 1217 New Jersey. Ted was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas Public School System. Accepting the call to duty, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951, serving in the Korean Conflict, receiving various medals, along with an honorable discharge. Later, he was united in marriage to his loving wife Norma (Barnett) Bell for 63 years. Six children were born to this union. Ted was an extremely hard working man who was blessed with an array of employment opportunities during his lifetime; including: Coca-Cola Bottling Company, MoKan Chemical Company, Mattie Rhodes Youth Center and the United States Post Office, where he retired from both Mattie Rhodes and the United States Post Office after 30 years of service. He also was a business entrepreneur who owned rental properties, operated Teddy Bear’s Daycare, and Ted Bell’s Exterminating Company. Ted’s strength, motivation and endurance continued, until God called him home to be reunited with his loved ones. Those left to cherish his loving memories are his wife Norma Jean (Barnett) Bell, six children: Phyllis Jean Kilpatrick (Larry), Toni Marie Bell, Theodora JoAnne Barnes (Jimmy), Tracy Lenore Jackson (William), Theodore Bell, Jr., and David Wayne Bell; six-grandchildren: Rodney & Aaron Kilpatrick, Rachel Smith (Shawn), Jimmy Barnes, Jr., Kelly Bridgeman, Andrew & Alexis Bell; five great –grandchildren: Ayrin, Kahlee & Nassir Bell, and Jaylie & Janya Barnes. Additionally, his leaves a special nephew, Eric (Ricky) Bell and special friends: James Dangerfield & Ronald Taylor (neighbor); cousins in the Okmulgee and Oklahoma City area, sister-in-law, Gloria (Barnett) Collier, brother-in-law, Charles (Inell) Cromer of Detroit, MI and a host of very loving nieces, nephews and cousins in the Kansas City area. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at Salem Baptist Church 1824 N. 11th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Visitation 10:00A.M.
