Ms. Thelma Maxine Culpepper Harvey

Thelma Maxine Culpepper, was born January 5,1944 in Kansas City, Missouri to Mack and Thelma Juanita Culpepper. She is preceded in death by both parents. Thelma, affectionately known to some as Maxine or T. Max, received her education in the Catholic schools of Kansas City, MO. She attended St. Joseph/St Monica Elementary school through the eighth grade, and went on to complete her high school education in the parochial system graduating from Bishop Hogan High School. Several years out of high school Maxine, married Bill Harvey, no children were born to this union. She was employed at Western Electric Company, manufacturing telephone equipment until the company’s reorganization. Soon after leaving Western Electric, Maxine attended college and received her Bachelor Degree of Science. She dedicated her life to serving others through her career as a Registered Nurse (RN). Maxine worked at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center for over twenty-five years until she retired. Maxine had a love for plants- so long as they stayed indoors- and a special fondness for pets, particularly cats. Visiting her home, you couldn’t help but glance around constantly, wondering where her cats had claimed territory before you made your departure. Maxine was also known for her laughter and unwavering faith. She was a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church until it’s closing, after which she joined Risen Christ/Annunciation Church. Following its closure in December 1994, her journey came full circle as she returned to St. Monica Catholic Church, where her faith had first taken root. Maxine also found great joy as a Lady of the Knights of St. Peter Claver, Ladies Auxiliary, Court #57, where she faithfully served as a member of both the Third degree and Fourth degree Lady of Grace. Maxine loved to travel, shop and be apart of family gatherings. She will be deeply missed by her church family, her dear friends, and all that were fortunate to know her. Her circle of love was wide, and she leaves behind many who will forever hold her stories and laughter close to their hearts. Maxine is survived by members of the Ogletree family of Kansas City, Missouri and Houston, Texas, the Jackson family of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the Wilson family of both Dallas and Houston, Texas, Derreck “Ricky” Mize and a host of friends and relatives in and out of the city. Thelma Maxine Culpepper Harvey passed away September 10, 2025. Funeral services Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 11:00am St. Monica Catholic Church. Interment Forest Hill & Calvary Cemetery. Visitation 10:00am - 11:00am at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A. Jones & Sons. Condolences may be shared on our website.
