Mr. Terry Watkins

Terry Elton Watkins was born on November 13, 1986 to Tim Watkins and Bonita Shelby -Watkins. Terry departed this life on August 15, 2023. He was the second of four children. Terry was a godly Man and had a strong relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Terry was baptized at an early age at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ under the leadership of the late Pastor Earl Abel. He later attended Lenexa Christian Center and other area churches in Kansas and Missouri. As an adult, Terry enjoyed worshiping at Nexus church, under the leadership of Pastor John Purkey. He also enjoyed taking his son to the Stronger Men's Conference in Springfield, Missouri. Terry was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Don E Shelby Sr, paternal grandparents Robert and Elnora Pittman and Thurman and Mary Alice Stephens aunt , Jeanette C Liggins, cousin Jerome Pittman, uncles Edwin Guidry and DeAngelo Penn, maternal great grandparents, Paternal great grandparents, Richard and Mildred Andrews Special maternal grandparents, Richard and Mildred Andrews along with their children Ritha and Richard III, maternal God grandmother Albertine Cann, special paternal aunts and uncles Benny and Dock Cheeks and Clemon and Minnie Pittman. He also leaves a host of great aunts uncles and cousins. Terry graduated from Gardner Edgerton High School class of 2005. He received his bachelor of science degree in sociology from Southwest Baptist University in December 2011. He also earned his Masters of science degree in criminology and criminal justice in May 2017. Terry also held degrees in Homeland Security and defense and certificates of completion from FEMA. Terry was currently pursuing his dream of earning a PhD in criminal justice. He was on the Dean's list and national criminal justice Honor society in 2014. Terry married his college sweetheart and on July 5, 2011, they had one child Kaedyn Elton. That marriage was later dissolved. However, being a father was Terry's greatest accomplishment. He loved his son dearly and fought very hard to always have a strong presence in his life. Kaedyn was his whole life. And Terry officially called him "T.H.E. G.O.A.T ". Terry enjoyed playing video games, traveling and swim with Kaedyn. Terry started working as a teenager at McDonald's, Dickerson theaters and Price chopper. He also worked at FedEx freight and FedEx customs. After moving back to the Kansas City area, he started his career with the Cass County juvenile office. Terry said that was the most rewarding job he ever had. Terry was an avid gamer and love playing on his playstation, Sega genesis, Nintendo and Xbox game system with Kaedyn. Terry Elton leaves to mourn his passing his son Kaedyn Elton; his parents Bonita Shelby -Watkins, Tim ( Jacqueline and children) Watkins ; Brothers Terrell E Watkins and Terres E Watkins; sister Terraye Watkins; grandmothers Sandra M Liggins, Donna J Shelby; and Lynette Pittman. Godparents Darlene Liggins- Davis and Ricky Wash. God Brothers Brandon Dunmore and Isaiah McGee; God sisters Destiny Dunmore ,Rikki Agbaji and Jada Davis. Lifelong best friends Javrick Childress, Tommy Hansen, Deamos Peoples , Dominique Peoples, Derrick and Tim Jackson. Lastly, he lives a host of aunts, uncles and cousins from the Shelby, Liggins, Watkins and Pittman families. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, September 2, 2023, 1030 am at Watkins Heritge Chapel. Interment Maple Hill Cemetery. Services conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel.
