Mrs. Sherry Gail Brown

Sherry Gail (Johnson) Brown was born on September12, 1962 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Henry Johnson Sr. and Frances Elizabeth Johnson. Sherry Gail gave her life to Christ at an early age while attending Antioch Baptist Church. She attended Sequoya Elementary and graduated from Tahlequah High School. While growing up in Tahlequah on Lee Street, she was surrounded by a loving community, family and friends. One early memory of Sherry Gail was playing in the fields behind the family home picking blackberries and flowers. Oh, how she loved the country! The family moved to Kansas City where she met the love of her life, Daniel James Brown. They gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Tameika, in 1980. Daniel and “Gail”, as he called her, were married in 1989. They were hard workers who loved children. Although Gail attended nursing school, she found work as a housekeeper and sometimes took care of the elderly as well. She was so loving, She and Daniel’s home was filled with so much love and joy that their nieces, nephews and grandchildren loved just being under their tutelage. No child began kindergarten without learning their ABC’s, how to read and count with the Browns. “God bless the Encyclopedia Britannica before the World Wide Web (internet).” Unfortunately, sickness came to her. She had a brain aneurysm, stroke and heart attack leaving partially paralyzed, and into early retirement during the early 2000’s. Nevertheless, the Lord sent her nine grandchildren, three with Tameika, (Dayvon and Sherry Shelton, plus Daniel Johnson) with Timothy Shelton. Next, the Lord granted her favor with two stepdaughters, the eldest of all three daughters being Alfreda Walker, “Tiny”, as everyone calls her, blessed the Browns with five children, Anessa Walker, Ronshay “Shay” Walker, Nathaniel “Nate” Woods, Jordan Walker and Aron “Fats” Walker. Then, the Lord delivered the Browns, Lolita “Lola” Shannon, who gave them their last grandchild, Vanail A. Stephens Jr. They loved the Lord, ate, and played various games such as Dominoes, together. Sherry Gail Brown departed this life on December 21, 2024, at home with her devoted husband of 35 years, Daniel James Brown. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Ross and Louise Johnson, parents Henry Johnson Sr. and Francis Johnson; brothers Steven Johnson and Jeffery Johnson; sister Carmensita Johnson; uncles, Wilbur Johnson and Lloyd Johnson; aunts, Brenda Seeley, Elaine Miller and Elsie Hendricks and grandson Jordan Walker. She leaves behind her husband, Daniel J. Brown; three daughters Tameika Johnson, Alfreda Walker, and Lolita M. Shannon; and eight grandchildren. Also, mourning her loss are her brothers, Brian Johnson (Pam) Kansas City, MO; Kevin Johnson, Tahlequah, OK.; and Henry Johnson Jr. (Gayla) of Bakersfield, CA; uncle Jack Johnson, Muskogee, OK., sisters in laws, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Concord Fortress of Hope Church 11050 West Longview Parkway KCMO 64134. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A.
