Ms. Sharon D. Gill

Sharon Denise (Jones) Gill was born on July 21, 1964, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the union of Wendell and Mitty (Love) Jones. As the third of four daughters, Sharon grew up surrounded by the love and warmth of her close-knit family. From a young age, she embraced her faith in Christ and was baptized at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ, a decision that would guide her throughout her life. Sharon’s educational journey began in the Kansas City School District, where she developed a love for learning and a passion for pursuing excellence. She proudly became a Tiger, graduating from Lincoln Academy in 1982, affectionately known as "The Castle on the Hill."; During her time at Lincoln Academy, Sharon was an active and dedicated member of the Marching Cobras, the Track Team, and the Cheerleading Squad, demonstrating her love for supporting others, determination, and leadership. After high school, Sharon earned a full-ride scholarship to attend Lincoln University, where she found her calling in healthcare. She excelled in school (as evidenced by the many attendees of Lincoln University that referenced her homework) and became a Registered Nurse, a profession that allowed her to touch countless lives with her gentle and giving spirit. Sharon’s dedication to her studies and her commitment to excellence earned her recognition on Lincoln University’s prestigious “Who’s Who” Dean’s List, a testament to her hard work. As a nurse, Sharon dedicated countless hours to caring for those in need, offering not only medical expertise but the kind of kindness that heals the soul. Sharon was a comforting presence—a voice of reassurance, a hand to hold, and an ear to listen. Her work was not just a job but a calling, one that required sacrifice, patience, and a heart full of empathy. Beyond the walls of the hospital, and through her last days, Sharon was a caregiver to everyone in her life. She never hesitated to hold a hand during a family member’s doctor’s appointment, administer medicine round the clock, or to provide a check up call. As a mother, Sharon provided unconditional love to her children. Though gentle, she cared for Jayde and Jay fiercely. Sharon gave so much of herself, always putting her children first, often at the expense of her own comfort. There was never a hint of hesitation— the joy of watching them grow and thrive was reward enough. Her care for others extended beyond her own children – at all phases of her life, you could find Sharon with a house full of happy kids who were not her own and often stayed for extended periods of time. Her greatest pleasure was a house full of warmth and joy. As a nana, Sharon showered her grandchildren with a love that was pure, unconditional, and all-encompassing. She had a special way of making each grandchild feel unique and loved, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Sharon made sure that her grandchildren knew they were special. Her love as a nana was a legacy that will live on for generations, in every hug, every laugh, and every moment spent together. As a daughter, Sharon carried a sense of duty, respect, and tenderness in her relationship with her parents. She made sure her parents’ needs were met, not out of obligation, but out of deep love and gratitude. In moments of joy or sorrow, Sharon was there to offer support, to share a quiet moment, or to brighten their parents' days. The bond they shared was one of mutual respect, admiration, and an unspoken understanding that family was everything. As a sister, Sharon was a confidante, a protector, and a source of strength. Through the highs and lows, she stood by her sisters with an open heart, offering support in times of need, and celebrating their victories with unmatched joy. There was no challenge too big or too small that Sharon wouldn’t face head-on, with an unwavering sense of loyalty and love. And as a friend, Sharon was someone who knew how to make others feel seen and heard. Whether through a simple smile or an act of kindness, she made everyone feel like they mattered. Her friendships were built on trust, and her capacity to give of herself was endless. Sharon was the heart of our family, and her love will live on through each of us. She was a lover of all things Lifetime and Hallmark TV. She loved cooking, chances are you have asked for second servings of her dressing, meatballs or spaghetti at family gatherings. Though many years of her life were spent in St. Louis, she loved her hometown of Kansas City – she was a proud Kansas City Chiefs fan and loved her Gates BBQ. Sharon departed this life on March 3, 2025. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Jayde (Immanuel) Tate; Dr. Jay L Gill II; caring parents, Wendell and Mitty Jones; affectionate grandchildren, Kassie; and Julianna; loving sisters, proceeding her death Brenda Jones; Mary Moore; and Angela (Brian) Campbell. Special nieces and nephews, Marcus Moore; Javon Gill; Janelle Gill; Ebone’ Moore; Tere’sha Anderson; Jesse Gill IV; Morgan Patterson; Brandon Campbell; and Arthur “AJ”; Great nieces and nephews, Jamir, Emani; Khloe; Simi; Sayo; Jada; and Cairo; and a host of extended family and friends. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ 3619 East 35th Street KCMO 64128. Private Disposition.
