Mrs. Sharon M. Dean

Sharon Dean, third born child of James and Dorothy McField arrived in this consciousness on December 31, l965 and experienced an untimely departure on April 5, 2025. Her earthly presence will be missed by family, numerous friends, co-workers, and anyone/everyone who was in contact with her, however briefly. To know Sharon is to love her; if you didn’t love her, then you just didn’t know her. Sharon came into this world on her own terms and determined to live her life at her own pace. As the third child, she set in mind her desire to do nothing that mimicked her siblings. As it happened, some things were out of her control…so she had to attend the same early schools as her siblings, the first being Fairfax Elementary School; but because she was a “victim” of school boundary changes, she was required to attend Eisenhower Middle School, and after a brief two years at Sumner Academy, decided to follow her siblings to Wyandotte High School, where she graduated in 1984. Though eligible to apply for scholarships, she did not want to apply; she was encouraged by her school Counselor to apply; so, she applied for only one, and received a 4 year offer for Law Study at UMKC. During this time, LOVE in the person of Darryck Dean stepped in and because he was also a student at UMKC, they both continued, got married and had Harrison, their first child, who attended their Graduation from UMKC in 1988. In time, their second son, Eric, was born and Sharon devoted much of her time, along with Darryck, to their children’s upbringing. Beginning in their early years, and through her married life, Sharon experienced several occupations, always purposely accepting positions that could fulfill her desire to work in fields that “helped people without taking advantage of them”; so she worked at places like Catholic Charities as a Home Health Aide; at Rose Brooks as Lead Court Advocate for Victims; and the Kansas City Missouri Public Health Department, from 2005 to the present. Leaving behind to miss her, in addition to her husband, Darryck, are her two sons, Harrison (Veronica) and Eric (Beri); her two grandchildren (Dawson and Dane Dean); her siblings, Karla Malabre (Densil) and James O.; her parents; her sister Karla’s children, Karmyn and D.J. Malabre… and countless near and dear family, friends and co-workers. To them all, Sharon says “so long, I will see you on the other side…GOD is in charge and we ain’t running nothing but our mouths....as evidenced by….” “When those who are cherished by us leave and disappear, they are not annihilated but are like stars that vanish into the light of the Sun of reality.” - Rumi A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 19, at 12:00 noon at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art - Atrium, 4420 Warwick Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64111.
