Rosa Lee West

Obituary Rosa Lee West, 97, was born on March 25, 1921 to William and Lula Johnson in Fort Smith Arkansas she departed this life in Gilbert Arizona on March 9, 2019. Rosa Lee was united in matrimony to Levertis West in 1962. No children were born to this union. Levertis West and daughter Bettye Daniels Racey preceded her in death. Rosa Lee was affectionately called Moma, Grandma, Grandmother, Big Moma, Moma Rose, Aunt Rose, Granny and Mother West. Rosa Lee received her formal education at Lincoln High School in Fort Smith Arkansas. She moved her family to Kansas City in 1952 and obtained her Nursing degree at General Hospital. Rosa Lee started her Nursing career as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at General Hospital Number Two. She later worked at Wheatley, Queen of the World, Menorah and Truman Medical Center. She ended her career in private duty nursing. Rosa Lee accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 17. She joined the Church of God and Christ under the leadership of Elder Kenneth Price and Progressive Church of God in Christ. She was a faithful member for over 60 years and became a church mother. Mother West was the matriarch of her family and enjoyed spending time her all her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and cooking Sunday dinners for her grandkids. She loved the Lord and always shared her religious beliefs with her family and friends in her Christian home. Rosa Lee leaves to cherish her loving memories, Kay Guinn (Andrew), Kansas City, Sonja Lane Grandview, Missouri, Jacqueline Breedlove, Raleigh North Carolina, JoAnn Price (Christopher) Santan Valley Arizona, Three special nieces, Shirley Porter in Springfield Virginia, Donna Renee Brown, Detroit Michigan and Regina Calhoun, Detroit Michigan. Rosa Lee has fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren in her lifetime. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Progressive Church of God in Christ. Visitation 9:00 A.M. Interment Forest Hill Calvary Cemetery.
