Robert L. Wooton

Obituary Robert Lawrence Wooton, 84 passed away on January 25th, 2021 at his home in Overland Park, Kansas. He was born on June 6, 1936 in Baxter Spring Kansas to Alva Adolphus and Lovetta Riley Wooton. Robert grew up in Baxter Springs, Kansas. He graduated from Baxter high school in Baxter Springs in 1955. After high school he attend Pittsburgh State College in, Pittsburgh, Kansas where he received a degree in Physical Education and a minor in biology. After college he joined the Marines and then served in the Navy where he was a drill instructor and was honorably discharged in 1963. He worked for the U.S Department of Labor, The Employment Standards Administration as Director of Planning and Support where he worked for 30yrs. Robert married Maxine Brown in Long Beach, California. They were happily married for 53yrs. Robert as a member of kappa alpha psi in college was interested in sports, especially track and field where he has the Pittsburgh State record in the 100 yd dash for the last 60 plus years. He was also inducted into the Pittsburgh State College Hall of fame in track and field in 2004. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Brown Wooton, his parents Alva Adolphus and Lovetta Wooton. Robert is survived by his sons, Robert A. Wooton (Giau) of Olathe, Kansas; Robin Wooton of Overland Park, Kansas; daughter, Stefanie Wooton of Overland Park, Kansas; Sisters; Virginia Smith of Kansas City, Mo; Vera Taylor (James) of Kansas City, Kansas; Annette Belcher of Kansas City, Kansas; Marilyn Mcreynolds of Kansas City, Kansas; Grandchildren; Daniel Anderson; Victoria Anderson; James Anderson; Scott Wooton; Michaela Smith; Rob Wooton; Dorian Wooton-January; Ross Wooton; great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends. The family of the late Robert L. Wooton deeply and sincerely appreciates all expressions of kindness shown during this difficult time. Your heartfelt expressions of love have eased our pain.
