Mr. Robert L. Holder

Robert LeOtis Holder was the seventh child born June 6, 1932, in LaGrange, Missouri to Georgia and William Holder. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jerlean Alexander Holder, both parents, six brothers and two sisters. He received his early education in the public schools of LaGrange, Missouri and attended Douglas High School in Hannibal, Missouri. He then entered the Army and was in the Korean War before moving to Kansas City, Missouri. In 1955, he began a career as a Mail Handler with the United States Postal Service. A few years later, Robert met Jerlean Alexander and they married in 1960. To this union three children were born, Richard, Angela, and Scott. Under the Rev, Dr, Jesse Douglas Sr., Robert joined Jamison Memorial Temple CME Church. He was a dedicated and active member of the church serving on the ED Franks Usher Board, was a Boy Scout Leader, drove the church van, assisted the Trustees whenever needed, and was a member of the Steward Board for many years. He was always willing to help wherever and whenever needed. After 33 years at the Post Office, Robert retired December 1988. He then became active with the Jackson County Election Board and became an Election Judge at the Polling stations. He enjoyed working at the stations and looked forward to being involved. Robert loved the neighborhood where he lived. He watched most of the kids grow up and start families of their own, talking with them and sharing his life experiences. Early Saturday morning, February 17, 2024, God called Robert home. He leaves to cherish his memory, one brother, Paul Holder of Quincy, IL; three children, Richard Holder Sr. (Rosilyn), Angela Holder, and Scott Holder all of Kansas City, MO. His niece Rita Williams of Minnesota who he helped raise. Two special cousins Doris Thompson and Georgia Jackson. Three grandchildren, Richard Holder Jr. (Mikesia) of Springdale, Arkansas, Renee Holder and Renita Holder of Kansas City, MO; five great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, Funeral services Friday, March 1, at 11:00am at Jamison Memorial Temple CME Church. Interment Forest Hill Cem. Visitation 10:00am-11:00am at the church.. Services entrusted to Lawrence A. Jones & Sons. Condolence may be shared on the website.
